2020 Football Preview – ACC Handicapping
Looking for 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference Predictions? The ACC once again looks like a one-horse race. Clemson might have gotten some recent injury news but they are so far ahead of the rest of the league right now that it is unlikely to keep them from winning the league again and making it back to the playoffs.

After Clemson, there are other teams that have talent but we keep waiting for programs like Miami and Florida State to show it again on the field. North Carolina has been making a lot of offseason noise but not as a viable champ, more a program on the rise.
The odds reflect this but it is hard to make a case for any other team in the same division as the Tigers. Not only would that team have to beat Clemson but they probably would have to run the table in the rest of their conference games.
Miami is intriguing this season. They might have their best quarterback situation in a long time and the overall talent situation has not fallen off too much. The key is trying to find a horse you think can actually get to that championship game.
2020 ACC Conference Predictions: Clemson -600
Clemson is looking like the class of the conference and one of the best teams in America heading into the season. Losing a top receiver hurts but that should not slow them down much.
That is in part because they have what could easily be considered the top quarterback and the top running back in the nation heading into the season. Trevor Lawrence is a Heisman frontrunner and Travis Etienne is on that list too. They could win just handing the ball off if they wanted to.
The Tigers defense is expected to elite once again this season. Last year the defensive line was more ordinary, by their standards, as they lost all four starting linemen to the NFL. This season it is once again expected to be one of the best in the nation.
2020 ACC Conference Predictions: Miami +750
The college football world is waiting for Miami to Miami again. The wait continues but they should be a division contender this season.
D’Eriq King made headlines for the wrong reason last season, basically giving up on Houston and taking advantage of transfer rules. King was an awesome dual threat with the Cougars and Miami is hoping he can work the same magic in Coral Gables.
The rest of the Miami team is solid. Even when the on-field results haven’t been there they have still been able to recruit pretty well. King could be a difference-maker in a lot of games this season. I am confident they can put together a solid defense.
2020 ACC Conference Predictions: North Carolina +1000
You can’t say that North Carolina is back because I don’t really know that would mean for the Tar Heels. They are not a blue blood program.
Sam Howell is the key here. He got off to a great start as a freshman QB and seems to have a nose for winning football overall. He is exactly the kind of guy you can take a leap behind. Recruiting has been up since Mack Brown got back to town but next year or the year after might be the time to get down on this group.
2020 ACC Conference Predictions: Virginia Tech +1200
Virginia Tech was one of the steadiest programs in America under Frank Beamer. Things are a little less predictable under Justin Fuente, who will now be without the services of former Beamer defensive coordinator, Bud Foster. With less preparation that might mean more than expected.
The Hokies have been in an interesting position in the transfer portal, nearly losing quarterback Hendon Hooker. Hi, being back means we can expect the offense to once again be quite strong. The running back group is diverse and looks like the strength of the team.
The defense was more boom or bust than what we associate with Virginia Tech. They are stout enough on the line that they should not be pushed around, all four starters return. If the have the best defensive in the division they will be a factor in race to lose to Clemson in the title game.

2020 Atlantic Coast Conference Predictions: Clemson (Bet Now at any of our Reviewed Online Sportsbooks!)
For starters, this is not a good bet. -600 to have your money held for 4 months, maybe longer. However, I just can’t get behind the alternatives here.
Of course, there will be another team in the ACC Championship game but odds are that team is +14 at best. It might even be more than that.
If Miami gets there, an athlete like King might give them a chance, and Howell and the Tar Heels nearly beat Clemson a year ago but still, those are both pretty long shots. Clemson seems at no risk to make the title game but if you think there is another team in their division that might come up and nip them, that might be the better play, thought I don’t see that happening.
