They are in a talent rich part of the country and with the right guidance they could be a really good program in the AAC. They might be starting to believe in what Willie Fritz can do for them. This season could be a good one.

I am a little bullish on Tulane but still trying to figure out what bullish on Tulane means.
2019 Tulane Green Wave Predictions: Team Strengths
Here comes the Wave: Last year Tulane had one of the best defenses in the conference. This season they might be the best.
It starts with 9 returning starters from a group that was second in the AAC against the run. They return their entire defensive line.
They also return lethal edge rusher Patrick Johnson who had 10.5 sacks a year ago. The more pressure he can put on teams the better because the pass defense needs to improve.

Tulane plays a three three five and three senior starters return in the secondary. Perhaps that will increase the urgency and get some more turnovers.
The Offense is Building: Tulane wants to be a ground heavy offense and it worked last year as they were fifth in the conference and 23 in the nation st 218ypg.
Senior running back Darius Bradwell had a strong season with a career high 1134 yards. He is built to wear down opponents as the game goes on.
The passing game is built on the big play. Top receiver Darnell Mooney averaged more than 20 yards per catch. They try and lure you on and hit you over the top.
2019 Tulane Green Wave Predictions: Team Weaknesses
One Way To Play: The Green Wave are built to play a certain way. They want to get a lead and pound away with Bradwell and a strong defense.
The quarterback, Justin McMillan, is not going to be able to fling it all over the field and get great results. They have to play from ahead.
After Moony only one receiver caught more than 14 balls last season. Also the second leading returning receiver is Jaetavian Toles, who caught 7 passes in total. They are hoping for some receivers to emerge.

Another concern is the lack of experience on the offensive line where only one starter is returning.
Two other projected starters are seniors but continuity with this group is going to be key. The second unit is almost all sophomores too so it they are making changes it is not from a position of strength.
Tulane has to be able to move the ball on the ground and create the style of play that gives them a chance to win.
Tulane Green Wave Prediction: 6-6
The schedule should get them to a bowl game but with this team they are not going to dominate. They might be better than their record.
The nonconference is pretty tough this season. FIU and Missouri State look like wins but trips to Auburn and Army losses.
Tulane has a tough AAC slate. They might have a shot at home against Houston and UCF but those are the two best teams in the league. Road trips trips to Memphis and Navy and Temple could all be losses too. If they can get those last two then maybe they can finish the regular season with a winning record.

Fritz looks like he has built an identity with the Green Wave and has them pointed in the right direction. The wins will eventually follow. They could be a plucky underdog with that defense this season.
