Looking for 2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers predictions? The Golden Gophers finished last season with a bang beating Wisconsin and getting back the ax. They also beat Georgia Tech in convincing fashion in the bowl game and the hope is they can build off of that. The expectations are starting to grow around this football program and many believe this can be a big year.

Is this the year the Gophers can take that step forward?
2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers Predictions: Team Strengths
Running Wild: The Golden Gophers have not only one of the best running back corps in the Big Ten but also the entire nation.
Mo Ibrahim rushed for 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns last year and there is a good chance he is the third-stringer this year.
Rodney Williams and Shannon Brooks are both expected to be healthy this year, and they are quite the 1-2 punch. The Gophers also have Bryce Williams who rushed for over 500 yards last year.
This is going to take a lot of pressure of the quarterbacks and I would expect a lot of big rushing games for the Gophers this year.
Ridiculous Receiving Corps: Everyone knows Tyler Johnson’s name and with a big season he could make himself a lot of money come draft day next year.
Behind Johnson is Rashod Bateman who chose the Gophers over teams like Georgia and other SEC schools. This is a loaded class so as long as people can get him the ball, it’s going to spell big things for this team.
2019 Minnesota Golden Gophers Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Quarterback Questions: I don’t know if this is actually going to be a weakness this year, but there are some questions about the quarterback.
Tanner Morgan and Zack Annexstad will compete for the starting job and although they weren’t terrible, they need to be better if the Gophers want to take that next step forward.
Youth: In a few years the Gophers being young now is going to really help them but there are going to be some mistakes from this team because of the youth.
As the season goes on hopefully they get better and improve but early in the season, there could be a few mistakes that cause issues.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Prediction: 8-4
I really think this is a Golden Gophers team that can compete for the Big Ten West title, it’s just going to come down to how well the quarterback plays.
Getting a QB in and solidified early is most important. Once they figure that out both already have a good relationship with the receivers and I think it’s going to equal a lot of success.
I think this team will shock a lot of people with how well they play and they are going to prove they are ready to compete in the Big Ten.
