2018 Football Preview – MAC – Broncos
Looking for 2018 Western Michigan Broncos predictions? The Broncos were built up to be one of the best non power five conference teams in college football under PJ Fleck, but once he left for Minnesota they knew they were going to have to go through a bit of a rebuild. Last year they finished the season with a 6-6 record, but the expectation is that they will be better than that this year.

2018 Western Michigan Broncos Predictions: Team Strengths
Solid Quarterback: One of the big reasons that the Broncos lost three of their last four games was their quarterback Jon Wassink was out with a broken collerbone.
When he played last year he was good, and fully healthy he should come back even better this year. He threw for 1391 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
He really isn’t a mobile quarterback, but with the way he can throw the ball, that doesn’t much matter. If Wassink can stay healthy it’s going to be special.

I would look for him to have a big year and don’ surprised if he is named the MAC player of the year.
Offense as a whole: It isn’t just Wassink who should have a big year. the offense as a whole should be.
In the backfield, they will probably play four running backs a game, and all four of them really could be starters on this team.
The receiving corps is veteran led, and they need to come up big this year.
2018 Western Michigan Broncos Predictions: Team Weaknesses
No Pass Rush?: On the defensive side of the filed, there is one glaring weakness, the pass rush and they need to find it early this year.
Over the final five games they only had six sacks, and that can’t happen again this year. If they want to take that next step forward, the offense needs to find a way to be better.

Who’s Healthy?: It wasn’t just Wassink who wasn’t healthy last year, it was most of the team and hopefully, they figured something out this offseason.
Injury protection happens in the offseason with training, and the expectations are that this team got it figured out.
Western Michigan Broncos Prediction: 8-4
The Broncos open up the season with Syracuse and that is a winnable game. I think this team does take that step forward this year.

I think they will finish with eight wins this season, and get back to that Bowl Game that they got shut out of last year. Look for the buzz to be back around this team, and the Boat Yard to be filling up again.
