2018 Football Preview – MAC – Rockets
Looking for 2018 Toledo Rockets predictions? The Rockets finally won a MAC title for the first time since 2004, and the expectation this year is they will be able to do the same thing. With such a good program, there is no such thing as a rebuild, but some expect that’s what type of year will happen this year. A rebuilding year for this program could still mean eight or nine wins.

So how much of a rebuild is this going to be?
2018 Toledo Rockets Predictions: Team Strengths
Loaded outside: The strength of this team on the offensive side of the ball is out wide with the wide recievers.
Cody Thompson got another year of eligibility and he is a star on the outside. There is a chance that they could sweep the MAC awards at wide receiver, although that would quite the tall task to do.
They will be counted on extra this year, with questions surrounding the quarterback position, but whoever it is will make the quarterback look a lot better.
The offense is going to be good this year, and it all starts outside.
Solid Secondary: On the defensive side of the ball they aren’t spectacular, but they should have one strength, in the secondary.
The secondary had 15 interceptions last year, and it should be even better this year. If the defense is going to play better than last year, it’s going to be because of the secondary.
2018 Toledo Rockets Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Replace Logan Woodside: Logan Woodside is the best quarterback this university has ever seen, but now they need to find a way to replace him.
Filling his shoes isn’t going to be easy, but the expectations also won’t be as high. Whoever they choose is going to need to be at least semi-decent if this team doesn’t want to take a huge step back.
Pass Rush??: On the defensive side of the ball the biggest issue was the pass rush. They just didn’t get enough pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which made the whole defense struggle.
They have the guys up front which makes it seem like the pass rush could be there, this year they just have to get through opponents offensive lines.
Toledo Rockets Prediction: 8-4
Last year wasn’t a fluke for the Rockets but I think that this team is going to take if nothing else at least a little step back.
I think they will finish with eight wins, but I think that will still be enough to at least compete for a MAC title again this year.
I think they might just show up just a little short but still overall a nice season.
