2018 Football Preview – SEC – Gamecocks
Looking for 2018 South Carolina Gamecocks predictions? The Gamecocks haven’t quite lived up to the expectations that were brought with Will Muschamp coming to town, but at the end of the season they finished it up strong. They beat the Michigan Wolverines in the Outback bowl, and now the expectations are as high as ever.

Will the Gamecocks be able to build off the success of last year, or will they take a step backwards and become a big disapointment.
2018 South Carolina Gamecocks Predictions: Team Strengths
Dominant Defense: The South Carolina Gamecocks have been known as a defensive team since Will Muschamp came to town and that should be no different this year.
Up the middle, there is a lot of production that needs to be replaced because of players graduating, but there are a ton of top recruits.
The back end of the defense has a lot of newcomers but they are a lot of talent including Nick Harvey who is coming over from Texas A&M.
The offense should be a little better this year, but there is still going to be a lot of pressure on the defense, but the good news if they have the talent to get it done.
New Voice on Offense: Bryan McClendon has taken over as the offensive coordinator and his philosophy is pretty simple this year.
The Gamecocks averaged only 24.2 points per game last year which ranked 12th in the SEC. McClendon philosophy is pretty simple, the more plays you have, the better the chance you have to score.
The Gamecocks offense is going to be better this year, and it is probably the most talented offense Muschamp has had since he has come to South Carolina.
Now how much better it will be is actually the question, but there is no question, that it is going to be well improved.
2018 South Carolina Gamecocks Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Special Teams questions?: The kicking game hurt the South Carolina Gamecocks last year, and unless there is some big changes early, it could cost them a game or two this year.
The kicker last year was Parker White, but he really struggled last year. He went only 14-25 on the year and from 40 plus he really struggled going 4 of 14.
There is going to be some competition going into the season, but whoever is the kicker this season is still probably going to be a weakness.
Tough SEC: The second biggest weakness this team has is playing in a very tough SEC, so they really can’t take their guard down any week.
Week in and week out it’s going to be a battle, and they need to be prepared for the challenge. They can’t take any game for granted, or that is when they will be upset.
South Carolina Gamecocks Prediction: 8-4
The SEC is tough, but some of the teams in the SEC are going through rebuilds, like the Florida Gators and that should help their record.
I don’t think they will finish ahead of Georgia, but I think they can do enough to finish in second place in their divison.
