Will the Ducks take a big step forward this year? Or will it be another sad year up in the great northwest.
2018 Oregon Ducks Predictions: Team Strengths
Heisman under center?: The big strength for this team starts under center this year for the Oregon Ducks.
Justin Herbert played in seven regular season games last year, and the Ducks came out ahead in six of those games. The offense was really clicking with him under center averaging 52.1 points per game.
He threw for 1750 yards and 13 touchdowns, and early this postseason all the buzz is will he win a Heisman just like Marcus Mariota did.

He is a true pocket passer and as long as he can stay healthy. the offense is going to be in very good hands this season.
Respectable Defense: Jim Leavitt was in his first year as the defensive coordinator last year, but he showed that the Ducks can have a decent defense.
The Ducks have always been known as having a weak defense, but that wasn’t the case towards the end of last year. With the offense that the Ducks have, the defense doesn’t need to be great, they just need to be good enough to not give up 30 or 40 points a game.
The defense is led by linebacker Troy Dye who has a career for himself waiting on Sunday’s, that’s how good he has been for the Ducks.
2018 Oregon Ducks Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Any Receivers?: The Ducks have their quarterbacks, but the big question is exactly who is he going to throw to?
Tight end Jacob Breeland is good, and they have a few wide receivers who caught passes last year, but they don’t have a star on the outside.
It’s going to be wide receiver by committee, and they are going to need one of them to emerge in the big moments to be the go to guy.

Weak Non-Conference Schedule: One thing that might hurt them this year, is the weak nonconference schedule, at least in terms of National Ranking.
After Texas A&M backed out of their agreement to play this year, they are stuck playing Bowling Green, Portland State, and San Jose State, all three that don’t give them much run for postseason play.
If they do have a really good season, the lack of star games early could hurt their chances to get into the playoff.
Oregon Ducks Prediction: 10-2
The Oregon Ducks have three cupcakes for non conference, and that will help their final total of wins, ending the regular season with ten.
The Pac 12 has always been a good football conference, and it’s going to be a battle every game. I think they will have a few losses, but also pull a few upset.

Overall 10-2 is a nice record for a first year head coach, and the future looks bright for the Ducks. A 10-2 record should be enough to get them into a good bowl game.
