2018 Football Preview – Big Ten – Michigan Wolverines
Looking for 2018 Michigan Wolverines predictions? There was a lot of hype at Michigan when Jim Harbaugh was installed as the coach a few years back. Though they have been competitive they have still not won much of anything since he arrived fininshing second and third fiddle even in their own division. I am not sure this is the year to expect any more that what we have seen so far.

The Big Blue faithful might not like it but this looks like a season similar to those in recent memory.
2018 Michigan Wolverines Predictions: Team Strengths
Still a Great Defense: Ever since Harbaugh arrived the defense has been really good. His impact on recruiting seems to be most felt on that side of the ball which is surprising given his offensive background.
Rashan Gary was a monster recruit a couple of years ago and he has been solid but not dominant. As more experienced players have moved on this could be his year.
Devin Bush and KHaleke Hudson are a dynamic linebacking duo. Bush uses his speed to gobble up everything while Hudson had eight sacks a year ago.

The Michigan secondary is filled with returning starters and they are all upperclassmen. Both cornerbacks made the All Big Ten first team too. They ar not going to give up much in the air this season.
Shea The Saviour: Since Harbaugh took over he has not been able to recruit or coach up a high level quarterback…and it has been obvious.
Enter Shea Patterson who transferred out of Ole Miss after the last season and was granted immediate eligibility. There is no doubt he has talent.
Patterson seems to be able to both run and pass with success and the fact that he put up numbers in the SEC says something but until he really does it for the Maize and Blue there is going to be some doubt.
2018 Michigan Wolverines Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Will the Score Enough?: There seems to be little doubt that the Wolverines will be an elite offensive teams, but to have real success they have to ramp up the offense.
It was assumed that this would be something Harbaugh would do with ease but the has not been able to develop a quarterback and thus the offense has never been fearsome.
They have been able to acquire talent at the receiver position and the running backs are good enough but both scheme, play calling and the QB have to make the whole thing go.

The Wolverines might have been able to survive a stagnant offense a year ago if they were better at protecting the ball. They were 90th in turnover margin and that was with a plodding offense.
If they are going to put the ball in the air more they are going to be doing it with an inexperienced set of receivers that won’t have had much continuity with their quarterback.
Michigan has been very predictable offensively and they have to get away from that this season to have a chance at winning big.
Michigan Wolverines Prediction: 9-3
Michigan might have the best defense in the nation and it still might not be enough to get them their first playoff invite.
I do love them to create some early buzz by winning their opener at Notre Dame who is very overrated.
The crossover games feature a home date with Wisconsin which is likely a loss and visiting Northwestern is never a picnic.

Even if they master that I don’t see this team beating Ohio State and Michigan State on the road. They are probably a better team than the Spartans but Harbaugh is just 1-5 combined against these two rivals.
