Maryland won three of their first four games, including beating Minnesota on the road to start Big Ten play. Maryland would only beat Indiana from then on out and in all but one of their losses was a one possession game.
Maryland still has a long ways to go, but perhaps they can be a little more competitive this year.
2018 Maryland Terrapins Predictions: Team Strengths
Do They Have Any?: Well, not really. I mean, they do have some nice pieces. Ty Johnson who ran for over 800 yards is back along with a veteran offensive line. It isn’t the most talented line, but at least they bring back experience.

On the defensive side of the ball, Antonie Brooks is back who runs around all over the field as a utility player of sorts. Brooks made 77 tackles which was second on the team last year. Plus, he nabbed two interceptions.
Darnell Savage has the potential and the ability to be a late round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Savage covers a lot of ground and last year he picked off three passes.
2018 Maryland Terrapins Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Where Do You Start?: Maryland will have to somehow replace D.J. Moore. Even with playing behind a bad team, Moore still caught 80 passes for a thousand yards.
Some pieces come back from the defense, but again, this is a defense that allowed 37 points per game and ended by allowing 66 points to Penn State. They will have to grow leaps and bounds.

On the offensive side of the ball, Maryland barely mustered anything at all. If you take away the first two games, Maryland scored 17.5 points per game. And that includes the 42 points they put up on Indiana.
Maryland will have to do better and they will get a bit of a fresh start with a new coaching staff taking over.
Maryland Terrapins Prediction: 4-8
Maryland will hope that lightning strikes twice as Texas travels up to College Park. However, look for the Longhorns to take out their frustration and beat up Maryland.
Bowling Green and Temple aren’t exactly gimmes, either. They might, and should, win those games, but you never know.

On the road against Michigan, Iowa, and Penn State are pretty much losses. The good news is that winnable games against Minnesota, Rutgers, and Illinois are all home games. Same with Ohio State, but more than likely, you can play that game on the Moon and they’ll lose, but you never know.
All in all, the schedule could be worse, much worse; like it was last year, but it still won’t be easy. For as bad as they are, there is a path for them to win six games; if everything goes right.
However, I think they win four games – just like last year. I think the difference being they don’t beat Texas, but they win another conference game or two in there to get to four wins.
