2017 Football Preview – SEC – Tigers
Looking for 2017 Missouri Tigers predictions? The Tigers had a disappointing season in 2016 finishing with a 4-8 record. They were one of the most exciting offenses in the SEC last year, and are expected to be the same this year. But that exciting offense didn’t actually result in many wins last year. It was fun to watch but they were still losing.

2017 Missouri Tigers Predictions: Team Strengths
Showtime on Offense: The Missouri Tigers have one of the best offenses in all of football. It improved from 124th two years ago in total offense, all the way up to 13th.
The offense is led at quarterback by Drew Lock who is a star. He threw for 3399 yards and 23 touchdowns and he has a really good deep ball.
The one thing he would like to improve on this year is his completion percentage. He only completed 55 percent of passes last year, and if he could improve on that this year, he will even be better this year.
He has some weapons to throw to on the outside back from last year. J’Mon Moore was really good for the Tigers last year, and is a deep threat on any play.
Running Game Strong: As good as Drew Lock was last year the running game was just as good, if not even a bit better.
The top three running backs are back for the Tigers led by Damarea Crockett who rushed for 1062 yards last year. He is a power back that is very physical.
The offensive line was a huge key to the pass and rush game. All five starters are back for a line last year that only allowed 14 sacks on the season.
I would expect them to create even bigger holes in the rushing game this year, and Crockett will be closer to 1500 yards this season.
2017 Missouri Tigers Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Defense as whole: Coming into the season last year the Missouri Tigers defense was actually supposed to be the strength of the team, but that was far from the case.
Last year the Tigers defense finished 118th in the nation in total yards allowed. The big letdown last year was the rush defense couldn’t stop any. The front four couldn’t get any push and it left open a ton of holes that opposing teams took advantage of.
Now they are changing to a 4-2-5 alignment to have more success against the run, but I don’t think it will make much of a difference.
They didn’t bring in many guys that are going to be difference makers on that side of the ball, and I think that the rush defense will let down the team again this year.
It doesn’t matter how good the offense is this year, if they can’t play good defense this team won’t be making a bowl game this year.
Missouri Tigers Prediction: 9-3
How much success this team has this year will come down to the defense.
The Tigers did schedule themselves a pretty nice non conference schedule. They play Missouri State, Purdue, Idaho, and Connecticut, all games that should come as wins.
So the big question is can they find two wins in their conference play to get to a bowl game and hopefully build momentum for their future.
I think they will be able too. I think that they will beat Kentucky, and I think they will pull a big upset against a team that they weren’t supposed to beat.
That will leave them with a 6-6 record and and a berth in bowl game.
