2017 Football Preview – Big Ten – Wolverines
Looking for 2017 Michigan Wolverines predictions? The Wolverines had a nice season last year, but couldn’t beat Ohio State again, and it lead to them not being able to make the FBS Playoff. But after all the success last year, this team has lost a ton of talent from last years team, especially on the defensive side. This is going to be a very young team. They still have a lot of talent, but there is probably going to be some growing pains.

So will the young guys step up? Or will this be a sort of rebuild year for the Wolverines as they look towards the future.
2017 Michigan Wolverines Predictions: Team Strengths
Stability at Quarterback: One thing that the Wolverines haven’t had much of since Harbaugh took over was some stability at the quarterback position, but that isn’t the case in this one.
Wilton Speight is back this year for the Wolverines to play the quarterback position and although he isn’t a star he does make good decisions with the football, and should be able to help lead the Wolverines to success on offense.
Last year he threw for over 2500 yards and 18 touchdowns and a 61.9 percent completion percentage.
Although the wide receiver crop is going to be mostly new, I still think he will help this offense be about as good as they were last year.
Jim Harbaugh: Jim Harbaugh has always been know for getting more with less and that is what he is going to have to do with this crew.
He has always been known for being a demanding coach and has gotten more wins out of teams then they probably should have, but this is going to be something complete different,
This will be the youngest team he has ever worked with, and there is going to be some growing pains. But can he get the teams past those growing pains to have success is the big question.
2017 Michigan Wolverines Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Young Defense: Like I said above this team is going to be young, but especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Last year this was the top ranked defense in college football but it lost ten of the starters from that team. They are going to be really young this year trying to replace all those starts that the defense had last year.
They do have a lot of highly regarded guys on the defensive side, but the question is will they be able to play up to the standard that was set last year.
Who’s Out Wide?: The biggest question on the offensive side of the ball is who will Speight be throwing to?
Amara Darboh, Jehu Chesson and Jake Butt all went off the NFL, and they are big shoes to fill. They do have guys like Kekoa Crawford, Eddie McDoom and five-star recruit Donovan Peoples-Jones who are supposed to be stars, but they haven’t had any success on the field yet.
Michigan Wolverines Prediction: 9-3
You can’t say Michigan didn’t challenge themselves with this schedule. They start off the season against Florida, and then have to play Cincinnati and Air Force.
Florida is going to be a real challenge and Cincinnati and Air Force are no gimmes. In conference play they have to play Penn State and then they finish the season going to Wisconsin, and then playing Ohio State at home.
If they can split the games between Penn State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Florida they have to feel really good about themselves.
But I don’t think they will split, I think they will go 1-3 in those games and finished the season with a 9-3 record.
