Can the Ragin’ Cajuns improve on their 6 win season from last year?
2017 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Predictions: Team Strengths
Excellent defensive line: The Ragin Cajuns main strength going into 2017 is their talented defensive line. In the 2016 season after losing two starters the defensive coordinator was fired after week 1.
The team transitioned from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3, and moved athletic redshirt freshman linebacker Joe Dillon to the defensive line. He picked up freshman All American honors on the way to a 7 sack season.

He should have an even better campaign as a third year sophomore. I expect him to reach double digit sacks and fight for first team All-Conference nods.
Kevin Perry is also on the defensive front and the 300 pounder should be an all around threat on the D-line. His ability to stuff the run and also help in rushing the passer.
With four seniors on the defensive line expect a lot of pressure from this talented group.
The passing game should be much more improved: The Ragin’ Cajuns passing game was somewhat pedestrian last season but should see better numbers in 2017. Led by Jordan Davis, the quarterbacks are talented and have depth.
Davis played in 4 games last season behind LSU transfer Anthony Jennings but should be the starter week one. He’s stall and has the speed to make plays all over the field.
The receiving corps include Keenan Barnes, who had 6 touchdowns last year and led all the receivers.
Jamarcus Bradley is the deep threat and averaged 17 yards per catch last season.
2017 Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Predictions: Team Weaknesses
The linebackers will be tested.: The Ragin’ Cajuns linebacking corps loses their top 2 tacklers from last season. Losing 1st team all conference linebacker Otha Peters is a significant blow.
He was the #2 tackler on the team and replacing him should be TJ Posey, who is a top 100 linebacker recruit.
The defense last year gave up only 3.4 yards per carry and under 130 yards rushing per game.

Those numbers won’t be matched this year but this is still a very athletic core of players who can get to the ball carrier on all 3 levels.
Shoring up the passing defense The Ragin Cajuns had one of the worst secondary’s in the nation last season, finishing in the bottom 95 for all major categories.
They gave up 18 touchdowns while only picking off 10 passes with a 61% completion percentage rate. The unit is replacing a starting corner and a former starting safety but they also have a lot of experience at the corner positions.
With the amount of playing time this young unit has received the last two seasons this could be a much improved secondary.
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Prediction: 6-6
Louisiana will have a .500 season and should make another bowl game.
