2017 Kansas Jayhawks Predictions: Team Strengths
Doug Meacham in the mix: The offense for the Kansas Jayhawks should be better this year. Somehow the Jayhawks were able to get Dough Meacham away from TCU to take over as the offensive coordinator.
Meacham likes his offense to be able air the ball out and the Jayhawks have a couple of good options at the quarterback position this year.
Carter Stanley showed some promise at the position in the final three games of the season. He made some big plays against Texas to give them a chance to pull the upset.

They have their top two wide receivers back in Steve Sims Jr and LaQuvionte Gonzalez. Stanley built some good confidence with those guys and that should be huge coming into this season.
If they can have stability at the quarterback position that would be huge, and something they haven’t had as a long time.
Low Expectations: It might sound kind of weird but one of the biggest strengths that this team has is the expectations are low for this team.
People around this program and the fans have just kind of accepted that this team is bad and that’s just how it is.
That keeps the pressure low around the kids in this program. They can just go out and play football and try to build something special in Lawrence.
2017 Kansas Jayhawks Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Questions on the Defense: When a team is 2-10 usually the defense isn’t that great and this defense wasn’t by any stretch of the imagination.
It still had good players on it though and with four of the five starters gone in the secondary those are a lot of snaps this team is going to have to replace.

Overall their pass defense was not good last year, but it doesn’t seem like the guys coming into replace the guys that are gone are going to be any better.
To have success this year the defense is going to need to be better. The offense figures to be better but if the defense is still giving up thirty points a game the offense isn’t going to be good enough to keep up with that type of production.
Enough Good Players: The Jayhawks have been getting better in the last few years in terms of recruiting but the guys they are getting are still two and three star guys.
The big question is if those guys are going to be good enough to compete in a Big 12 conference that has a lot of teams getting four and five start recruits.
Kansas Jayhawks Prediction
4-8
The Jayhawks season is going to be a tail of two parts of the schedule.
To open the Jayhawks have a pretty easy schedule which they should be able to get a couple of wins but to finish the season is brutal.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
They have to play TCU, Kansas State, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma and then Oklahoma State. They will be underdogs in all of these games so if they want a successful season they need to get their wins early.
I think they improve this year, but not enough to go to the bowl game. They double their win total from last finishing with four wins.
