The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder will do battle in the Western Conference Finals. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see the top two seeds in the West squaring off in hopes of representing the conference in the NBA Finals.

There are some bragging rights, as well as the trip to the Western Conference semifinals, in the Lone Star State when the 8th seed Dallas Mavericks face the #1 seed San Antonio Spurs in the opening round of the playoffs.

There is no team hotter in the league right now than the San Antonio Spurs. They have been beating the good and the not to good teams and put up one of the most unexpectedly lopsided performances of the season when they visited the Pacers and trounced them by 26 points.
The Spurs are laying waste to the league right now. They have one 17 in a row and if they can get this one on Monday they will have been perfect throughout the month of March. They are dominating with only 4 of those games finishing within less than 10 points.
The Spurs – pretty much the model for a professional sports franchise – are winners of 15 straight. With their trip to the foot of the Rocky Mountains on Friday night, there’s no reason why that win streak shouldn’t be extended.

These two teams have been NBA superpowers for most the 21st Century to this point, which is high praise and remarkable consistency for two Western Conference ballclubs. Injuries to the Lakers’s aging trio of stars have seen L.A. finally take a back seat, but those darn Spurs just keep on moseying along in southern Texas.
