Despite being somewhat overshadowed by the US Masters, The European Tour heads to France for the SAINT-OMER Open, at the Saint Omer golf course. With all of the worlds elite golfers playing in the US Open, the SAINT-OMER Open gives the fringe players a chance of bagging the €700,000 prize.
The 111th US Open commences at the Congressional Country Club on Thursday – only the third time the Major has headed to Maryland. In a field missing Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood is favourite to lift the trophy – although there will be stiff competition from Luke Donald, Phil Michelson and Rory McIlory.
The European Tour moves into Italy as the players take part in the BMW Italian Open at the Royal Park Golf Club in Turin. The tour has struggled to attract the biggest names of golf in recent years because the tournament takes place just two weeks before the start of the US Open.
