Dave B’s NHL Power Rankings – February 25, 2014
The Olympic Break is over – hockey fans were treated to quite a two weeks in Sochi but it is time to rein everything in and get back to the reality that is the NHL chase for the Stanley Cup.
The Olympic Break is over – hockey fans were treated to quite a two weeks in Sochi but it is time to rein everything in and get back to the reality that is the NHL chase for the Stanley Cup.
This is the last week of NHL action before the best of the best head to Sochi to take part in the Olympics. There isn’t a whole lot of change at the top of the Rankings after two weeks – the top dogs just keeping it done and in the case of the Blackhawks – they keep getting to OT but are having issues getting the two point.
We have just hit the half way point of the NHL season and we are definitely starting to see some separation between the contenders and pretenders in the NHL.
Two more weeks of NHL action is in the books and predictably, there has been a shakeup in the Power Rankings. The Ducks and the Penguins are the hottest teams in the land – the Rankings reflect that, while a few of the early season powers have hit a bit of a hiccup as we approach Christmas.
Two more weeks of NHL action is in the books and as always the weeks have flown by creating a little shakeup in the NHL landscape. The #1 two weeks ago has slid down to #8 while the defending champs have regained top spot. The West reigns supreme again – the top 4 spots all come from the better of the two Conferences.
Two more weeks of NHL action is in the books – time to look at the risers and the fallers. A new top dog has emerged on the heels of a five game win streak while a few former top 5 teams have tumbled down the Rankings due to some recent unflattering play.
Another two weeks of NHL action is in the books and the elite are really starting to separate themselves from the pack. There are still some surprises in the league – just take a look at the Top 2 in this week’s Rankings and some teams that have definitely slipped inexplicably.
Two weeks of NHL action is in the books and what a two weeks it has been. There are still some undefeated teams out there, some complete surprises and some utter disappointments early in the season. Let’s break it all down in Dave B’s bi-weekly edition of the NHL Power Rankings.
It’s hard to believe that the season is over and that it started with such strife and low expectations. A shortened season certainly wasn’t short on intrigue, on surprises and on disappointments. Ya – I’m talking to you Philadelphia Flyers!
Two weeks left in the NHL’s Regular Season and things are really heating up as the Power Players flex their muscle, the bubble teams scramble for a playoff spot and the weaker teams in the NHL look toward next year.
Well, for the first time this year, we have a brand new #1. If this wasn’t a bi-weekly column, we may have had one last week. But the Penguins have emerged – their climb to the top has come at a steep price however. There is no timetable of when Sidney Crosby will return to action after getting hit in the face with a slapshot against the Islanders.
Well, the rich just keep getting richer and unfortunately, the poor just keep getting poorer in the world of the NHL. This week there is little change at the top and at the bottom but there is some differences in the middle of the pack.
Another two weeks have passed in the world of the NHL and predictably in the shortened season, there has been some significant movement in the Power Rankings. There is still one undefeated team, there is some shocking Division leaders and as always there is a share of complete and utter disappointments.
NHL Power Rankings – February 18
Another two weeks have passed in the world of the NHL and what a couple of weeks it has been! One team remains undefeated in Regulation time, one returns home after going 4-0 on a four-game road trip and others have tumbled out of the top 15 (can you say San Jose?)
NHL Power Rankings – February 4
Three weeks are gone in the NHL’s abbreviated season and my how things have changed. With 3-4 games for each of the NHL clubs per week, every two weeks will be fluid as can be in Dave B’s bi-weekly Power Rankings.
NHL Power Rankings – Where Every Team Ranks After Weekend 1
The first weekend of the NHL’s abbreviated season is in the books – nice to have the game we love back isn’t it? While we may not be ready to crown a champion just yet, the first few games offered us a glimpse into what we can maybe expect during this sprint to the finish.
