The Week 3 Rankings Are In!
Week 2 is in the bag, degenerates! Now comes the fun part. The Packers and Cowboys proved once again that they are the cream of the crop in the NFC, while the AFC continues to be a jumbled mess of corpses and tomfoolery. While the Raiders won’t make any noise in the standings, RUN-DMC showed up with a huge effort that proved to be the best rushing effort of the day.
Dirty play? Awesome play? Either way you color, Tom Brady’s unfortunate injury is the single play that will go down as the defining moment of the NFL betting season. It certainly shakes up the standing, regardless of a 17-10 point wing by the Patriots over the Chiefs.
It’s not your imagination: The Dogs have been barking loudly this NFL preseason. In Week 1 the dogs were 9-5-2 against the number, which is not unusual with the first look at all the teams. But Week 2 was even more extreme, with the underdogs going 11-4 ATS (with one game lined at PK’em).
Two of the biggest surprises were the Raiders and Dolphins covering (though not to me, as I had Miami as a big play). Oakland had to travel 3,000 miles to play at Tennessee and play the Titans, who have done well in the preseason under Jeff Fisher. Don’t be fooled by the Raiders rolling up 380 yards, as most of it was on the ground (224 yards). One plus is that young quarterback JaMarcus Russell’s mobility allowed him to use his feet to escape trouble and allow his receivers to break their routes to come back to the ball. That’s a plus in preseason against second stringers, but could be less so in the regular season against onrushing NFL linemen.

Atlanta -3 vs Indy
Look for QB Chris Redman to get the start this weekend against the Colts and plenty of playing time. We all know the Colts take the pre-season very lightly with Dungy as head coach,(0-2 this year) and with QB issues with Manning still out, a potential for no preseason looming for him, I doubt Sorgi will see much more than 4 or 5 series until the role at QB is turned over. Atlanta is trying to establish a winning attitude with numerous young players with depth at QB in terms of the preseason is better on the Falcons side of the ball, with Redman, top draft pick Matt Ryan and Joey Harrington, all vieing still for the job.
