Both teams are coming off losses and are looking to pickup a win going into the weekend.

Chicago

The Bulls come into this game with a 9-6 record, which at the beginning of the year they would have considered disappointing but with the injuries they have suffered it should be considered good. Rose has not been healthy along with Gibson and Noah. Rose has played extremely limited minutes because of an ankle sprain, strained hamstring, and fatigue.

With the major pieces of the team sitting on the bench someone had to step up. That someone would be Jimmy Butler. He is averaging 21.6 points per game on 50% shooting. He is coming off a career-high 32 points in the loss to Denver on Tuesday.

The addition of Pau Gasol has proved to be effective. Gasol is averaging 19.3 points per game to go along with 10.5 rebounds. He has fit right in to Coach Thibodeau’s system which preaches defense and good shot selection.

The bench has had to step up in the absence of the starters being out. The key to the Bulls success on offense is passing the ball.

They are 9th in the league in assists per contest with 22.

Boston

In the last matchup against the Bulls, the Celtics picked up a 106-101 victory. Rajon Rondo has been the facilitator, averaging 10.7 assists per game. They have received major contributions from Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger, who respectively average 11.8 and 16.0 points per game.

The young Celtics roster is undergoing a learning process. Most of the team is fresh out of college and are still adapting to professional ball. They have dropped five of their last six and the only win in that stretch came against the winless 76ers. Boston has lost their previous four home games and are trying to avoid losing their fifth for the first time since 2007.

Coach Brad Stevens wants his team to start on the defensive end and then worry about their offense. However, they are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league shooting nearly 30% from beyond the arc. When they figure out a way to score points without the 3-point line they are quite efficient. The Celtics are averaging 104.7 points per game which is good for 5th in the league.

They rank #1 in the NBA in assists with almost 26 per contest. This is mostly thanks to star point guard Rajon Rondo.
