The Mariners have high hopes but just can’t keep things together very long so far this season. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games, including a four game winning streak but they need more consistency.

The Mariners have become an odd mix of a team that has been hitting home runs but not scoring that much. Nelson Cruz has been the monster they wanted in the middle of that lineup but the others have not filled in around him all that well. Robinson Cano might be the most overpaid player in the league.
Taijuan Walker has underperformed this season but he has had back to back solid outings so maybe he is coming around. He seems to fall into that classic group of young pitchers who doesn’t trust his stuff enough. As a result he winds up being too fine and walking people or putting himself in spots where he has to serve it up and gets hit.

Walks are going to always be something he has to watch.
The Orioles escaped not being swept over the weekend by the Angels with a 3-0 win on Sunday. They only scored five runs in the series but I don’t think that is too much cause for alarm because L.A. has been putting up really good numbers on the mound. Still the O’s are not in a great spot right now. Technically they are not in last in the division but they do have the fewest wins. They are only .500 on their current homestand and need to pick things up.
There is nothing sexy about Miguel Gonzalez other than that he gives his team a chance to win. Twice in his last three starts he has pitched 7 innings while not giving up any earned runs but on other nights he looks more than ordinary. Even when he is going right it looks like a team could solve him at any moment but he has developed good escapability.

The fact that he has been good of late might make him a fade target though.
SEA are 3-9 in their last 12 games as an underdog.
Under is 8-3 in SEA last 11 road games.
SEA are 2-6 in Walker’s last 8 starts.
BAL are 12-4 in their last 16 Tue. games.
BAL are 44-20 in their last 64 home games.
Under is 19-7 in Gonzalez’s last 26 starts overall.
Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.
SEA are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Baltimore.
I am going to fade Gonzalez here and bank on Walker not returning to old habits and being horrible.

The over looks solid but I will go with Seattle and the slight road upset.

Miami and Los Angeles meet Wednesday night in the finale of their series as Los Angeles looks to stay hot. The Dodgers will shoot for their 4th sweep in 6 series attempts as they send Carlos Frias to the mound. Countering him will be Jarred Cosart, who will try to play stopper and try to avoid sending Miami to their 4th straight loss.
The Marlins nearly stole the opener of the series, only to be outdone by a walk off three run home run. After yesterday’s debacle of a game, the Marlins look to salvage the three game set with right hander Jarred Cosart set to toe the rubber.
Cosart has dropped 2 straight starts and the Marlins have dropped 3 straight of his starts.
In his past two starts, Cosart has gone a combined 9.0 innings, allowing 7 runs. He lost to Philadelphia 6-2 and then followed that up with a 6-0 loss to San Francisco.
This will be Cosart’s first career start against the Dodgers.
The lone bright spot in the Marlins lineup has naturally been Giancarlo Stanton who had two hits in Tuesday’s loss. One of those hits literally left the stadium as he blasted the 5th home run to leave Dodger Stadium ever.
As a team, Miami is averaging 4.12 runs a game.
The Dodgers are not just one of the hottest teams in baseball, but games inside Dodger Stadium have been a struggle for the away team. Los Angeles brings in a 15-2 home record as they look to sweep their 2nd straight home set on Wednesday.
Los Angeles will send Carlos Frias to the mound as he looks to win his 3rd straight start.
Frias pitched out of the bullpen on consecutive days back on 4/26 and 4/27. Following that he was inserted into the rotation and has won both of his starts against Arizona and Milwaukee.
Against the Diamondbacks, he went 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits and no runs as the Dodgers blanked the Dbacks 8-0.
In his 2nd start, he received more than enough run support as the Dodgers blasted away for 14 runs in a 14-4 win. Frias went 5.0 innings allowing 6 hits, and just 3 runs.
This will be the first time he is taking on Miami in his career.
