The A’s have been one of the best teams since the All Star break and they are now in 2nd place in the AL West only 1/2 game up on the Angels. Oakland is in the Wild Card lead, but it will be hard to stay there facing Angels ace Jared Weaver tonight.
The Angels have lost 2 straight and are now in 3rd place in the AL West 1/2 game back of the red-hot A’s and 5 games back of the Rangers. However, they traded for starter Zack Greinke they are poised to make a run at the division title.
The Angels are 4 games back of the Texas Rangers in the AL West and they currently lead the Wild Card standings and they improved their playoff chances by trading for starting pitcher Zack Greinke.
Both the Angels and the Tigers are coming off a win and are in 2nd place in their respective divisions and if the season ended today the Angels would be the team in the AL that would snag the Wild Card berth.
These teams enter this game with nearly identical records. Both have been surprises, but in different ways so far this year. The Orioles have been much better than expected, while the Angels haven’t lived up to expectations.
With their solid play lately the Angels, who are 8-2 in their last 10 games, have moved into 3rd place in the AL West and they only trail the Rangers by 4.5 games.
After a terrible start this season the Angels have won 9 of their last 10 games, including beating the Rangers last night, and now they are in 2nd place in the AL West 4.5 games back of Texas.
The Los Angeles Angels are easily the most disappointing team for me this year. This team was supposed to challenge Texas for American League supremacy but they have needed a hot streak lately just to up their record within breathing distance of .500 and third place Seattle.
The New York Yankees lost a baseball game Thursday night against the Royals, but they lost much more than that before the game even started.
No team has been more of a disappointment so far this season than the Los Angeles Angels. They poured tons of money into Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson and the team has started out 6-11 through 17 games. Tampa Bay is 5-1 at home so far in 2012.
The Kansas City Royals are heading into this season with a great deal of optimism.
The Angels were 10 games over .500 last season, mainly because of their solid pitching, but they still finished 10 games behind the Texas Rangers and they did not make the playoffs. However, this season the Halos have high hopes since they won the free agency sweepstakes signing slugger Albert Pujols.
The Texas Rangers have won the battle for the American League West. With a playoff berth locked up, the next step is edging Detroit out for home field in the American League Division Series (they can’t catch the Yankees).
Hard to believe, as some of us still have VERY cold temperatures outside, that the Boys of Summer are almost back. But it’s true; teams have started reporting to 2011 Major League Baseball training camps and it’s time to start our team-by-team baseball gambling previews for the year.
