It’s pretty common knowledge in football that winning the rushing battle usually means winning the football game. That is the case throughout the regular season, the playoffs and ultimately, the Super Bowl. Obviously, picking which team is going to win the rushing battle is not the easiest of tasks since if it was, everyone would be likely winning money on sports’ most wagered-on game.

A – Andy Murray. With the Australian Open just around the corner, the tennis season is slowly and quietly off to a start. It’s way too early to know how the year is going to turn out, but early indications are that Andy Murray, the talented but underachieving British star, is ready to unleash a big season. He beat Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on consecutive days to win an Aussie Open prep in Abu Dhabi this week.
You can go on the internet and find countless articles on how the BCS has ruined college football or how it is the greatest thing that college football has ever seen. Adding another one to mix might be worthless but I feel I need to add my two cents into discussion.
I am not a fan of the USC Trojans and I am certainly not a fan of Pete Carroll. I think I dislike USC because it is so good year in and year out, Carroll acts smug all the time and the fans suck.
The regular season of NFL Picks has concluded and now it’s time to turn our attention to this weeks NFL Wildcard Playoff Picks. Looking at this years participants there are certainly some surprises because I can’t think of many “experts” who listed Minnesota, Atlanta or Arizona as making it to the playoffs at the beginning of the year.
A – Atlanta. I have to be a man and admit that I was wrong about the Falcons. I didn’t believe that Michael Turner was going to get the job done, that Matt Ryan was going to adjust easily to the pro game, or that the team stood a chance of making .500, never mind the playoffs. That’s an 0-fer for me. With a nice road win over the flailing Bucs on Sunday the Falcons clinched their spot, and they can now get ready to play a road game to start the playoffs.
The Fall Semester is in the books at most campuses around the United States and that means several key players will be suiting up and in action for their respective teams. These players will affect some of the biggest programs in the nation and additionally affect the betting marketplace. Some have been out due to injury while others due to suspension and others due to eligibility.
A – Arena Football League. The AFL is taking a year off to get their business in order. The question is whether anyone will care, or even notice. The most telling indication of the state of the league was that the New Orleans VooDoo had decided to fold even though they had been near the top of the league in attendance the last two years and were owned by Tom Benson, owner of the Saints, so money wasn’t a problem.
