The sports world will hold its breath for the Tiger Woods press conference today.
It’s been confirmed that the Dallas Cowboys have signed Wade Phillips to a three-year contract extension.
There was serious debate over the last half of the season as to whether Phillips would be kept on with the Cowboys, especially under notoriously fickle owner/GM Jerry Jones.
“You live by the gunslinger, then you die by the gunslinger.”
That’s the adage that most people point to as an excuse for when guys like Ben Roethlisberger and Jay Cutler fall short. Yet no quarterback in the modern era has epitomized that trait more than Brett Favre. At 12-4 SU, the Vikings finished with the second-best record in the NFC.
Here come the Cowboys.
Since the Troy Aikman era ended, the Cowboys punished their fans with 13 seasons of losing. Then last week happened. America’s Team won its first playoff game since 1996 and seems to be peaking just in time for its clash with the rested-but-possibly-rusty Minnesota Vikings. Given how well Dallas is playing right now, it almost feels like we shouldn’t call them a true underdog – even on the road.
For a third time this year, the sports gambling community is going to see the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys square off. The fans in Philadelphia will be hoping for a different result as the Cowboys have taken the first two matchups.
No two playoff contenders in the NFC are bewildering me more than New Orleans and Dallas. I’m actually pretty serious about this. While New Orleans is perfect, they’ve nearly lost to Washington, St. Louis and Chris Redman.
The Dallas Cowboys look to get one step closer to the playoffs as they host the 13 point underdog Oakland Raiders this Thursday at 4:15 at Cowboys Stadium in a Thanksgiving Day clash.

Two quarterbacks in desperate need of good game will be on display Monday night in Dallas. Tony Romo is coming off one of his worst games in the NFL, throwing for a paltry 127 yards and three interceptions last week in a 33-31 loss to the New York Giants. The loss only reaffirmed to the Romo-haters that he’s the most overrated quarterback in football.
The New York Giants (1-0 SU, 0-1 ATS, 1-0 O/U) and the Dallas Cowboys (1-0, SU, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U) will hook up in an early-season NFC East matchup that will almost assuredly be a typical knock-down, drag-out fight to the finish between the longtime division rivals when they meet at Cowboys Stadium at 8 PM ET on Sunday night.
The Giants got their 2009 regular season off to a solid start by beating the Washington Redskins 23-17, but either failed to cover the spread or saw the game play out as a Push as either, 6.5 or 6-point home favorites, depending on which line NFL bettors received. The game’s 40 total points played Over the 37-point O/U total.
