SuperBowl 44 Player Prop Bets

Super Bowl XLIV Individual Player Props & Picks

Let’s keep the Super Bowl betting props train rolling. Yesterday, we covered team-related props.

Today, it’s time for player props and picks. A big reason why is the fun range of prop bets available. Sportsbooks come up with more wacky props for the Super Bowl than for any other sporting event all year.

Note: I haven’t included every single available player pick here – just the notables. If you don’t see Robert Meachem’s name, for example, he isn’t part of the “field.” He’s still an individual betting option.

PLAYER TO SCORE FIRST TOUCHDOWN

Austin Collie +1200
Dallas Clark +700
Drew Brees +2500
Peyton Manning +3000
Joseph Addai +550
Marques Colston +850
Pierre Garcon +1000
Pierre Thomas +600
Reggie Bush +1000
Reggie Wayne +650
Field +500

Pick: Austin Collie +1200.

I see the calmer, more experienced Colts scoring first and Peyton Manning has fallen in love with Collie as a red-zone target. Teams get distracted by Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark and constantly forget about Collie, who has scored in each of his first two playoff games.

PLAYER TO RECORD FIRST INTERCEPTION

Antoine Bethea +800
Darren Sharper +500
Jabari Greer +1000
Jacob Lacey +800
Kelvin Hayden +800
Randall Gay +1000
Field +800
No interceptions thrown +125

Pick: Antoine Bethea +800.

It’s possible that neither Brees nor Manning throws a pick, as both are so accurate, but I’m still expecting minor jitters from Brees. If he does throw a pick, I see it happening on the Saints’ first or second possession, with Bethea the beneficiary.

PLAYER TO CATCH THE FIRST PASS

Austin Collie +800
Dallas Clark +500
Joseph Addai +500
Marques Colston +500
Pierre Garcon +600
Pierre Thomas +500
Reggie Bush +1000
Reggie Wayne +500
Field +500

Pick: Dallas Clark +500.

This bet really depends on the coin toss but, if the Colts win it, Peyton Manning will likely try to establish an instant rhythm. And who better to help him do that than Dallas Clark, his favorite target?

PLAYER WITH MOST PASSING YARDS

Drew Brees -+20.5 yards
Peyton Manning -20.5 yards

Pick: Drew Brees +20.5 yards.

I expect Manning to do his damage early and gradually start chewing up the clock in the second half if Indy has the lead. Brees, meanwhile, should throw like a madman all game long, especially if he’s trailing.Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

PLAYER WITH MOST PASS COMPLETIONS

Drew Brees -135
Peyton Manning +105

Pick: Peyton Manning +105.

This may seem contradictory after I picked Brees to throw for more yards, but I expect Brees to attempt more deep throws and big gains. Manning, on the other hand, will be content to systematically pick the Saints apart with short routes. Brees completed 40 passes over his last two playoff games; Manning completed 56.

PLAYER WITH LONGEST RUN IN GAME

Pierre Thomas +110
Joseph Addai -140

Pick: Pierre Thomas +110.

The much more explosive Thomas averaged an outstanding 5.4 yards per carry this season versus Addai’s 3.8 yards. Addai’s longest run of the year was 25 yards. This is a steal.

PLAYER WITH MOST RECEIVING YARDS

Marques Colston +6.5 yards
Reggie Wayne -6.5 yards

Pick: Reggie Wayne -6.5 yards.

In Colston’s last three games, he has 3, 83 and 22-yard performances.  He’s too inconsistent to rely on.
