NCAAF: BULLDOGS CAN’T FIND THE PAY WINDOW
Fresno State’s season ended with a disappointing 7-5 record but the majority of bettors like them as three-point favorites for Saturday’s New Mexico Bowl.
The Fresno State Bulldogs play the Colorado State Rams in the second game of the bowl season, starting at 2:30 pm ET on ESPN.
Fresno opened the preseason as the favorite to win the WAC but the 105th-ranked run defense took care of any hopes the Bulldogs had in a hurry.That also led them to a miserable 2-10 record against the spread (ATS) this season and it’s important to note that they are on a 1-9 ATS as a favorite.
Colorado State (6-6, 6-5 ATS) won its last two games to become bowl eligible after two losing seasons.
First year Rams’ coach Steve Fairchild’s team should have a chance if the Rams can gear up the running game. They are 15-3 ATS when they rush for 4.5 to 5 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Fresno State is 10-7 and 6-5 ATS in the postseason, though 0-4 ATS as favorites. Colorado State is 1-4 ATS as an underdog to go with 4-7 record.
New Mexico Bowl Series Trend: This is the first New Mexico Bowl game without the host Lobos in action. In the prior two installments of this bowl series, the UNDER was an easy winner, with the games falling short of the posted total by 33.5 points last year, and 16.5 points in 2006. It is also the first time the WAC team will be favored.
