Chelsea FC looks to Premiership for Redemption

BetUS Sportsbook bettors have a pretty straightforward match in Chelsea FC’s upcoming fixture against West Bromwich on Saturday to contemplate. Chelsea FC currently sits atop the Premiership table, level with Liverpool FC in points, and if they want to maintain their prime position, they need to put forward a consummate performance against West Brom at Stamford Bridge.

West Bromwich makes the trek to Chelsea ‘s patch at Stamford Bridge, mired in a slump and occupying a most undesirable place in the Premiership table – the very bottom. Knowing they are the worst club this season in Premiership action – that is, worst in performance currently (not to offend any Brom fans out there) – cannot sit well with them.

They arrive at Stamford Bridge after going five matches without a win and they will try to stun the top club but given their current form, their hope would be more a wishful fancy than a reality.

Soccer Betting Line:

West Bromwich +1½ -110 +900 2½ O -130 U +110 Draw +400
Chelsea FC -1½ -110 -330 2½ O -130 U +110 Draw +400

Match Time: 12:30 PM Eastern Time, Saturday November 15, 2008

Soccer Betting Analysis:

Chelsea FC -330 – That Chelsea FC are heavy favourites in the sports betting market is hardly going to surprise any footballer betting on this match but with such overwhelmingly one-sided odds there is very little value on the money line.

Chelsea FC suffered their first major blow this season when they were knocked out of Carling Cup contention by Burnley. Though the club is admittedly more concerned about the battles on two other fronts – Premier League and Champions League – a defeat is a defeat and they cannot be happy about their Carling Cup elimination.

What made the defeat all the more disappointing was the fact the Scolari fielded a pretty strong line-up against Burnley with Lampard, Didier Drogba and others taking turns on the pitch. Burnley levelled the match in the second half (1:1)and then went on to win it on penalties.

West Bromwich (+900) – Chelsea FC will be the last of the higher-ups they come up against for some time so West Bromwich has something to look forward to in upcoming weeks. For now though, they have to contend with the tough prospect before them. There is no doubt they have been on a bad run of late but recent disappointments and developments in the Chelsea camp may make the task slightly easier for the visitors than most sports bettors would consider.

Soccer Betting Verdict: West Brom is not necessarily a bad side but they have made some key mistakes in matches that have cost them. They are playing well overall and should they contain their mistakes and play within themselves they could give Chelsea a better match than the odds makers expect. Although I would not strongly recommend taking Brom on the money line, but their hefty price tag at +900 warrants a small risk. The better play –or more realistic play – would be the draw at +400. Given Chelsea has suffered a major setback with Carling Cup elimination they may not be as focused as they should be. Further concerns in Chelsea’s camp come from a possible Drogba ban from FA – Drogba threw a coin into the crowd after celebrating his goal against Burnley. The incident is under investigation and is just another worry for Scolari to contend with amongst several others. If Chelsea is not all focused, Brom could sneak away with a draw. Both sides will seek redemption on Saturday, though for different reasons, and will want to take the initiative in this match.

Prediction:

Therefore, the over/under odds offer good value as well. Betting on the over 2.5 goals would be a good option.
