Liverpool vs. Manchester United EPL 2011 Betting Picks + Odds
A lot of people look at this year’s Manchester United side and see an unstoppable force. But if you look a little closer at their recent play, you will see a side that has at times shown its vulnerability. Something Liverpool will look to take full advantage on Saturday.

Although in limited action, Liverpool haven’t lost in nearly a month. In fact, they have won all of their matches in that time span, including their 2-0 win in the battle for Liverpool against Everton. So while Manchester United may lead the table, there isn’t a team out there who are currently in better form than the Reds at the moment.
Liverpool are starting to get healthy now as well. The only man that will be out of this match is Daniel Agger. While he is a regular player when fit, the Reds do have enough depth to get on without him in the Starting XI.
Meanwhile, Manchester is starting to get healthy in their own right. With recent injuries to attackers Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck, it is a wonder they have been playing as well as they have been. Both are back in action though, and should see pitch time this weekend.
It has definitely been a trial without that duo up front though. They have only won one of their last three matches, including the shocker of the century as they blew a 2-0 lead at home in Champions League play to Switzerland’s FC Basel. They should consider themselves lucky that they didn’t lose that one outright. [ad-3678122]
The Red Devils then followed up with a draw in the their only other test in September, to a lesser to Stoke side that was coming off of a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Sunderland. How did they follow up the brilliant performance against Man U? By getting run over by the likes of Swansea 2-0.
So while Man U is getting healthy again, it will take some time for them to regain the form they once held earlier in the season. This isn’t a team that they’ll be able to get by at less than 100 percent as they did last time out against Norwich. This is a side that can rival the quality of talent on the pitch, and the quantity of the depth as well.
In recent history, the Reds are in a period where they have actually held their own against the juggernaut that is Manchester United. In the last seven meetings between the two, Liverpool hold a 4-3 edge, including a victory the last time out earlier in the year. Liverpool have also won their last three home meetings against United.
Matt’s Prediction: If the Red Devils are to right this ship, they are going to have to figure out the holes they have had in their backline as of late. Liverpool are not the ideal side to try and fix holes on the defense that they have, as they have one of the more potent attacks around, led of course by Luis Suarez.
The Reds have also been working Steven Gerrard back into the lineup. This one has all of the makings for a Liverpool win, so that’s what I’ll be predicting for this Saturday.
