The last time the two sides played, Brazil won 3-0, and before that the Brazilians blanked Cameroon 2-nil in the 2008 Olympic Games. That was just five years before Cameroon shout out Brazil 1-0 in the 2003 Confederations Cup, following a 2-0 loss in the Confederations Cup just two years before.

After losing their first two group stage matches by an aggregate of 5-0, Cameroon has now only won one of their last 15 World Cup matches. The last time it won, was against Saudi Arabia in 2002.

The Indomitable Lions boast the worst losing skid of any African nation at the World Cup, as they have lost their last six matches in the competition, including a 1-0 loss to Mexico and a 4-0 shellacking by Croatia last time out.

To say the least, it’s been a World Cup to forget for Cameroon.

The calamity began before the side ever landed in Brazil, as financial trouble has kept them from coming to terms with star midfielder Alex Song, who was sent off for throwing a blatant elbow at Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic.

That means manager Volker Finke will not have Song in his starting XI, nor Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who imploded when he head butted teammate Benjamin Moukandjo.

So, Finke will hope to get the help of star striker Samuel Eto’o back into the mix, so the team can finish the tournament with some dignity.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s 0-0 draw with Mexico last week marked the second goalless match for Brazil after 26 straight games in the World Cup.

However, they did start the tournament with a 3-1 win over Croatia to remain on top of the Group A table.

Brazilian boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is likely to go with the same starting XI as in the side’s match against Croatia, which could include Zenit Saint Petersburg forward Givanildo Vieira de Souza, commonly known as Hulk.

Hulk started against the Croats, but missed the match against Mexico because of a muscle strain. He along with Barcelona star Neymar, who must be feeling good after scoring 33 international goals in 51 appearances and six in his last five caps, could be the difference here.

Prediction – Brazil –

The Selecao should have no problem notching a victory against Cameroon in this one, being enough for them to progress.
