Although not expansive, this week’s venue will require some semblance of driving distance – bunkers will definitely be in play for those who can’t fly the ball a ways. Solid proximity stats are ones to look at as well and, as always, those with a hot putter will do better than most this week.

So, with all of that in mind who should we be keeping an eye on this week as many of the pros see this track for the first time? Let’s take a look.

2015 Quicken Loans National Favorites:

Justin Rose 8/1

Defending champion in this event when it was held at Congressional enters off a T6 at The Open. He has been pretty good all season long which included a win at the Zurich Classic. He is T7 in all-around rankings and 27th in GIR and is the favorite for a reason this week.

Rickie Fowler 9/1

Has been a tad hit-or-miss. He posted MCs at the Memorial and the US Open and won the PLAYERS and Scottish Opens – pretty hard to know what to make of Fowler week-in and week-out. He enters off a T30 at the British Open and annoyingly inconsistent.

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Jimmy Walker 16/1

Has failed to finish inside the top 30 in any one of his last three starts – not great! But he currently leads the PGA in strokes gained: putting and ranks ninth in adjusted scoring. Simply put, Walker is playing just OK golf right now – nothing to write home about.

2015 Quicken Loans National Contenders:

Justin Thomas 25/1

Has been coming on of late – he has been a factor in his last two tournaments played including a T5 at the John Deere. Thomas will break through at some point – guesses are that it happens sooner than later.

Tony Finau 28/1

The rookie keeps posting top 25 finishes – he has eight in his last nine starts. The dude can bomb it off the tee – something that should help him this week. He also sits 14th in birdies or better and T22 in par-4 scoring – good stats for this track. Finau has been on my board every week – still waiting for him to pay me off.

Danny Lee 40/1

How about Danny Lee? Ya, he missed the cut at the Open Championship but he did win the Greenbrier and was T3 at the John Deere. Lee is sneaky good and in a less-than-spectacular field this week could keep the roll going.

Shawn Stefani 40/1

Stefani has gone from sleeper to contender with three top 10s and seven top 25s this season. He is 11th in all-around, 19th in adjusted scoring and already has a win a Tiger’s event. Looking for some value? Stefani may just be it.

[dfads params=’groups=526&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Will Wilcox 45/1

Here’s another guy that burst onto the scene and doesn’t want to leave! He is the PGA leader in all-around, enters off a second place finish at Barbasol and is as confident as they come right now. A wrist injury may have some scared off – not me!

2015 Quicken Loans National Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Daniel Summerhays 50/1

Has quietly been playing well – a T8 at the John Deere was followed by a solid T11 in Canada last week. He is T9 in strokes gained: putting in TOUR and T35 in par 4 scoring. Summerhays has looked good and could be the surprise of the weekend.

Johnson Wagner 50/1

How about Wagner at 50/1? He has three straight top 20 finishes – a T5 at the John Deere, a T10 at Barbasol and T18 at the Canadian Open. Wagner is quietly one of the hotter guys on TOUR and in a watered-down field looks like a very attractive 50/1. He is 18th on TOUR in GIR and T24 in proximity – great attributes for this track.

2015 Quicken Loans National Picks:

The pick this week ain’t sexy but it is smart. Justin Rose at 8/1 should be able to repeat although it is a different track this year. After all he has four top-10 finishes, including one win and two seconds, in his last seven starts overall. This is his tournament to lose.

The sleeper this week is Johnson Wagner at 50/1. He has quietly put together a nice streak and is due for a victory.
