Free PGA Picks: 2015 Memorial Tournament Golf Betting Preview

This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!

The PGA pros head to Ohio this week to play the 2015 Memorial Golf Tournament. A par 72 7,392 yards track awaits the pros – so do some of the most difficult bunkers on TOUR. Length off the tee is crucial on a fairly forgiving course – four par 5s, four par 3s and ten par 4s will give the contenders plenty of opportunities at birdie.

Muirfield was the most difficult par 72 track in a non-major two of the last three years – last year’s soft conditions were the exception. Distance off the tee, accuracy on the approach shots, scrambling and putting are all key stats to look at here. So is course history and current form.

With that in mind who should we be keeping an eye on this week? Let’s take a look.

2015 Memorial Golf Tournament Favorites:

Jordan Spieth 13/2

How good has this kid been? He has finished second or better in five of his last nine tournaments and has every part of his game going right now. There are absolutely zero weaknesses in his game and should better his T19 at this event last year.

Dustin Johnson 12/1

After a brief hiccup, Johnson rediscovered his form last week with a top 10 at the Byron Nelson last week when he shot a scintillating 62 in the third round.

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Muirfield is a track that should suit his game well – his proximity game is outstanding right now and his driving stats are terrific heading into the week. He has made 6 of 7 cuts here with just one top 10 – look for better this week.

Hideki Matsuyama 18/1

Defending Champion has been very good on TOUR this year – seven top 10s and another five top 25s this season including a solo 5th place finish at The Masters. He is Ninth in GIR on TOUR, 10th in scrambling, third in bogey avoidance – the biggest question is whether or not his putter shows up this week.

2015 Memorial Golf Tournament Contenders:

Justin Rose 20/1

Has been terrific in his career on this track – he’s made 7 of 10 cuts at Muirfield, with 5 top 5’s and a win. However Rose has missed the cut in three of his last six starts here and did miss the cut at TPC. He has finished inside the top two in his last four worldwide stroke play events and should bounce back on a track that obviously fits his eye.

Rickie Fowler 20/1

Making his first US start since winning THE PLAYERS. He did finish second on this track in 2010 and is still riding a bit of a high. He did finish a slightly underwhelming T30 in Ireland last week but Rory missed the cut in that same even – nuff said!

Tiger Woods 22/1

Has made the cut all 14 times he’s played here with an incredible 5 wins. Are you putting your money behind him – I’m not!

Matt Kuchar 25/1

We are all still waiting for Kuchar to finally break out! This week could be it. He has made 8 of 9 cuts here with 5 top 10’s and a win – seven straight top 15s in this event. He is 21st in adjusted scoring on TOUR, T3 in par-4 scoring and T11 in par-5 scoring – perfect attributes for this track.

Chris Kirk 28/1

Has really been coming on of late – a win two weeks ago at Colonial followed a T13 at THE PLAYERS. He is T22 in par-5 scoring on TOUR and 43rd in scrambling – perfect stats for this track and he did finish T4 in this event last year. Kirk is suddenly a dangerous guy and an intriguing 28/1.

Bill Haas 33/1

Has finished in the top 10 the last two editions of this tournament and had a T4 as recently as THE PLAYERS a month ago.

[dfads params=’groups=526&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He currently sits inside the top 25 in both par 5 scoring and scrambling and is one to look out for this week.

Kevin Na 40/1

Lost this tournament in a playoff last year and has looked good this year – seven straight top 20s in stroke-play starts including five-top 10 finishes and a T12 at the Masters over that span. Na is on a roll – don’t be surprised to see him contend this week.

2015 Memorial Golf Tournament Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Ben Martin 55/1

Has quietly been playing some good golf and may be due. He has top 10 finishes in two of his last three starts including a T10 at Colonial. He is 13th in GIR on TOUR, T27 in proximity and 38th in adjusted scoring – good traits for a good week here.

Ryan Moore 55/1

Hasn’t been great lately but he tries to get back in track on a track that he’s had some success. He’s made 8 of 9 cuts, with 3 top 10’s here and has top 25s in four of last five editions of the Memorial. Moore is a true Horse for the Course pick – I expect a good week again.

2015 Memorial Golf Tournament Picks:

The pick this week is Hideki Matsuyama at 18/1. The defending champ has been in every tournament the last four months and has the stats to support a win this week.

The sleeper is Ryan Moore at 55/1. He loves this track and may be due for something special.
