It may seem early to discuss 2011 golf futures, as it’s the holiday season, but the truth is that the next PGA campaign is only about a month away from beginning.

Let’s have a look at the current projected top-10 money winners for next season.

1. Tiger Woods (+100)

You have to give the books credit for relentlessly propping Tiger’s name up and getting bettors to throw down on him for nowhere near the value they should get. Putting Tiger first reflects the notion that he’ll “get his life back on track” this offseason and come back a man possessed. My prediction: that happens…in 2012. He still has lots of family issues to sort through. I don’t think he’ll mentally click again until the season after next.

2. Phil Mickelson (+800)

Lefty is still one of golf’s most naturally gifted and ballsy players but his struggles last year were enough to make me wonder if his prime is over. There are much younger, higher-upside guys below him who give you a better return on your bet.

3. Jim Furyk (+1400)

Careful paying for last year’s results. Jim Furyk is the reigning PGA Player of the Year but how likely is he to repeat that performance at age 40?

4. Dustin Johnson (+1400)

Here’s one of the high-upside guys I was talking about. Johnson is a mammoth hitter who took his lumps early last season and really heated up into the summer months. He’ll keep getting better. I can’t blame anyone who picks him to lead the Tour in earnings next year.

5. Steve Stricker (+2200)

Stricker is a veteran at age 43 but he’s a late bloomer, with more than half of his PGA Tour wins coming over the last two seasons. As long as he hasn’t won that elusive major yet, he’ll stay hungry. He’s finished in the top five on the money list in three of the last four years.

6. Paul Casey (+2500)

Casey is a classic high-risk, high-reward pick. He’s a long hitter just entering his prime but he’s also arguably as injury-prone as any other golfer on Tour. For almost the same value, wouldn’t you rather take Stricker’s odds?

7. Graeme McDowell (+2500)

The 2010 U.S. Open Champion and Ryder Cup standout made a lot of fans this season and should continue to play great golf.  However, he does double duty on the European Tour; he only played 10 PGA events last year. Unless he stays on U.S. soil more often, he won’t win enough money to contend on the money list even if he excels.

8. Luke Donald (+3300)

Luke Donald didn’t get that elusive win last year but he danced around it, posting three top-twos, two top-threes, seven top-10s and 10 top-25s while finishing third in the FedEx Cup standings. He seems on the brink of finally breaking out.

9. Rickie Fowler (+3300)

The 22-year-old phenom has that name appeal but I wonder if he’s still another year or two away from becoming a dominant player on Tour. He made 20 of 28 cuts and had seven top-10 finishes last year, however, so he’s proven he belongs.

10. Matt Kuchar (+3300)

Is Kuchar the best value play on this list? He posted 11 top-10s and an amazing 20 top-25 finishes in 26 starts last year, winning just under $5 million and finishing second in the FedEx Cup standings. The former amateur star has really found his swing. He’s an excellent choice to lead the Tour in money won next season.
