With history against Martin Wiegele (36.240*) defending the title he won 12 months ago, the Austrian will attempt to re-write the history books by becoming the first man to successfully defend the title.
Favourite to win the tournament is Portuguese player Jose-Filipie Lima (21.170*). The 2004 winner has a fantastic record around the course.
Lima had a blip in 2008, but has now rectified the problems in his game and will look to win his second European Tour tournament on home-turf.
2008 champion David Dixon (26.170*) was struggling for form before he defeated Christian Nilsson to the title in 2008.This week however, he returns on the back of an encouraging performance at last week’s BMW Italian Open where he finished in tied 15th place.
Elsewhere, English teenager Chris Lloyd (51.330*) has made a strong start to his rookie season to lie seventh in the current Challenge Tour Rankings, and will hope he can take advantage of the weaker field.
