If it weren’t for the Washington Capitals’ incredible run, more bettors would be noticing the Ottawa Senators’ hot play of late. The sizzling Sens have won nine straight games and are suddenly just five points back of their rival Buffalo Sabres in the Northeast. Earlier this season, the Sens only really did their damage at home; during the streak, however, they’ve won in New York, Montreal, Boston (twice) and Pittsburgh. That means the Sabres, who are 0-3 against Ottawa this season, must be on their toes.
The Sabres lost a tight one in Pittsburgh two nights ago but had won two straight before then and are 18-5-5 at home. Ryan Miller has been outstanding between the pipes but is finally getting some help.
Tyler Myers was the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for January; Thomas Vanek has finally regained his scoring touch over his last dozen games; even the uber-talented Tim Connolly has somehow stayed healthy all year so far. 
Buffalo is no easy place to play but I’m willing to take another flier on Ottawa. Ryan Miller plagues many teams but Ottawa is not one of them. He’s just 8-12-2 with a 2.96 goals against average against them in his career.
He may leave the door open for the Sens to score and Daniel Alfredsson could be up to the task, as he has 18 goals in 31 games at the HSBC Arena.
