Washington has won four straight games, averaging five goals per game during their streak. The Rangers have struggled to score goals lately and are coming off a 2-0 home loss to the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.

For the Capitals everything seems to be going right. Mike green has scored in four straight games, Alex Ovechkin has 10 points in his last six games, Nik Backstrom has eight points in four and Alex Semin has recorded four goals and three assists in his past four games. The Caps have the second best offense in the NHL scoring 3.4 goals per game.

Further evidence that the Capitals are enjoying the smiles of the Hockey Gods is the emergence of unheralded goaltender Braden Holtby who came out of nowhere and has won his first two starts in the NHL and has recorded a 1.70 goals against average in those games. This is in relief of another unheralded goaltender Seymon Neuvirth who has unexpectedly carried the load for Washington so far.

The Rangers have been forced to get by without the services of Marian Gaborik and Chris Drury for a good part of the season so far – huge holes to fill indeed. Ryan Callahan and Brandon Dubinksy have done an admirable job keeping the Rangers afloat so far.

Henrik Lundqvist has emerged from a rough patch early in the season and is 3-1 with a 1.50 goals against average in his last four games. His continued solid play will be key for the Rangers on Tuesday against the high powered Capitals.

Betting Prediction: The Rangers have been rather poor at home recording a 2-4-1 record so far. They have also struggled to score goals. Washington is 8-1-1 in their last 10 regular season games versus the Rangers and Alex Ovechkin seems to save his best for Broadway. This game won’t be close.
