Dallas is a sub-.500 team on the road so far this year but the Wings have lost their last three on home ice.

The Dallas Stars are getting results as of late but they are taking some extra time to get the “Ws”. Their last two wins have come via the shootout – they have just two wins in regulation in its past 12 games.

The offense has been average – 2.47 goals per game and the defense has been slightly below average this season – 2.87 goals per game.

The good news – the Stars offensive players seem to do their best work on the road – Tyler Seguin has registered 11 of his team-best 15 points on the road, and second-leading scorer Jamie Benn has posted nine of his 14 away from home.

Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 67 of 72 shots in Dallas’ past two games – a good sign for the Stars heading into Mo-Town.

The Detroit Red Wings return home after a 3-1 record on their tough Western road trip. In their last game (a 4-2 loss to Winnipeg) Jimmy Howard was the star stopping 43 shots.

Home cooking hasn’t been all that good for Detroit lately – they have lost three straight at the Joe and have totaled just three goals during that span. Surprisingly Detroit has scored more than two goals only once in seven home games this season.

The offense as a whole has no real excuse – names like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Alfredsson and Kronwall should be better than the 2.5 goals per game they are averaging.

The Wings actually have a negative goal differential this year and may be lucky to be tied for first in the Atlantic Division.

A few trends to consider:

• Over is 5-2-1 in DAL last 8 vs. Eastern Conference.
• DAL are 4-9 in their last 13 road games.
• DET are 456-207-27 in their last 690 home games.
• Road team is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.

The Stars have lost six of seven to the Red Wings and I think the trend continues Thursday. There’s nothing like a road trip go galvanize a team – the Red Wings will be living proof. A swing through Western Canada may just have kick started this team.

Take the Wings to right the ship on home ice.

Pick: Detroit Red Wings -147
