Flyers vs. Bruins Preview

The Boston Bruins will try to keep the dream of a first Conference title since 1992 on home ice on Monday night. The will have to beat a game Flyers team who are looking get the series back to Philadelphia for Game 6.

The Boston Bruins are returning home on Monday night where they are 5-0 so far in this year’s playoffs. The Bruins played well in Game 4 coming from behind twice to force overtime. With a little luck, they would be at home nursing their wounds and preparing for the winner of the Montreal Pittsburgh series.

Boston has been getting great performances from just about everybody on the roster. Mark Recchi has defied time and was instrumental in Game 5. He had two goals to add to his amazing playoff run. Team captain Patrice Bergeron has been instrumental in every game of the playoffs and Milan Lucic has emerged recently as a terrific playoff performer.

The defensive corp. of Zdeno Chara, Dennis Wideman and company have been stellar during the playoff run and Tuukka Rask has been incredible. If you don’t get the idea by now, the Boston Bruins are a complete team and will be difficult to beat on home ice on Monday.

The Philadelphia Flyers will not go away and if the Bruins think that this series is the bag, they’d better think again.

The Flyers got that taste of confidence on Friday night and will be looking to ride that confidence into a Game 6 date on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

The Philadelphia Flyers seemed like they were one player away from success in their Conference semi-finals with Boston. Maybe Simone Gagne is just that player. Gagne returned to the Flyer lineup two weeks after breaking his toe and he immediately made an impact with the overtime winner on Friday night to extend the series. With Mike Richards playing well and Daniele Briere finally realizing his potential, the Flyers look more competitive than at any time in the series.

The offense is bound to be better with Gagne in the lineup. The first line and the power play have gotten a major shot in the arm with his return and in a series in which special teams have been the difference, Gagne could be the difference.

The Philadelphia defense has been pretty good too. Chris Pronger has been his superb self and along with his stellar defensive play, he has been equally potent on the offensive end. Matt Carle was responsible for four assists on Friday as well. Questions surround Brian Boucher and his inconsistent goaltending. He has been fine, but he certainly isn’t winning the Flyers any games.

Game 4 sent a statement to the Boston Bruins. After surrendering two separate leads to the Bruins, the Flyers did not lie down. They came back and earned a well deserved victory. The Flyers are not dead yet. Look for them to finally end Boston’s home winning streak and force a Game 6 at home.
