Whatever Barry Trotz said to his team after Game 1 – get the recipe! The Nashville Predators put a totally underwhelming Game 1 performance behind them and generated 46 shots in a Game 2 win against the Vancouver Canucks to even their Western Conference semi-final series. Now it is up the Canucks to make the necessary adjustments and to try and gain back home ice advantage.
For Vancouver, it is simple. The reason that they have struggled in the playoffs so far is the lack of offense. The top unit in the NHL during the regular season has averaged only two goals per game in the postseason – a full 1.2 goals less than they did during the regular season. Daniel Sedin only has one point in his last five games and Daniel has one in six. The Canucks have scored seven goals in their last four games and Alex Burrows has four of them!
Vancouver`s offense has to be good but not great against Nashville on Tuesday night – Roberto Luongo will do the rest. Lou was well on his way to a second straight shutout before an absolute fluke beat him. If the Canucks score two or three goals, Luongo will do the rest.
Nashville`s offense woke up in Game 2 and directed 46 shots at Roberto Luongo but only beat him twice. That`s the problem. There aren`t a lot of finishers in the Preds and I can`t see where the offense will come from. By the way – a shout out to Martin Erat who took a slapshot in the ear, came back to the game and made a difference!
Pekka Rinne looked absolutely brilliant again on Sunday as he did in Game 1. The Canucks have had a difficult time solving him all season long. They Canucks managed just five goals in the last three regular season games against Rinne and have just two in the two games of this series. When`s he`s on top of his game, he, like Luongo are top four or five goaltenders in the world.

Vancouver doesn’t need to be great against the Predators, they just have to be good and I think the Good Canucks show up on Tuesday night.
Again, the Under has to be a play here too. The Under is 12-3-1 in Nashville’s last 16 road games and is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings between the two clubs. These teams have scored a total of four goals in the two games so far!
