Red Wings Lead Series 2-0
The Detroit Red Wings have absolutely taken a strangle hold on their series with the Winnipeg… I mean Phoenix Coyotes. But it is not for a lack of good play on the Coyotes part. Detroit has used a mix of grit and finesse to gain the upper hand and now go on the road to Phoenix where they have played very well as of late.
Detroit has ridden Pavel Datsuyk and in turn has forgotten all about Henrik Zetterberg. However, word out of Detroit is that Zetterberg will make the trip to the desert! Everybody is contributing for Detroit at the moment making them a tad scary going forward.
Jimmy Howard has been holding his own between the pipes for Detroit although his play has cannot be described as spectacular. As long as Detroit keeps producing in the offensive end, they Wings will make Howard look brilliant.
The Phoenix Coyotes have been OK in the series but have not gotten the results. They have averaged over 30 shots on goal in the first two games, has been getting some good performances from their best players, they have been good on the power play and have been getting decent goaltending from Ilya Bryzgalov. So what’s the problem?
Phoenix showed some spunk in Game 2 – going down 4-0, they could have rolled over and gone to sleep but they mounted a superb comeback scoring three straight goals to make things interesting The power play went three for seven and Shane Doan registered two goals and an assist.
Ilya Bryzgalov has been good stopping 59 of 67 shots so far in the series. He hasn’t been spectacular yet however – he needs to be superb in order for the Coyotes to have a chance,

Betting Prediction: The Detroit Red Wings have been a very good road team this season and they have absolutely dominated the Coyotes in Phoenix in the last couple of seasons.
Everything appears to be clicking for the Detroit Red Wings at the moment and with the chance of Zetterberg suiting up on Monday, Detroit appears to be on a path to the second round. Detroit looks confident, potent and plain scary at the moment. Phoenix has played two good games in the series but has still lost – I expect the trend to continue.
