Vancouver snapped a five game losing streak with a 3-2 OT win against Calgary on Saturday and now gets a crack at an Arizona team that has just one regulation win in their last 14 games.

Despite the Coyotes futility, they have played the Canucks very tough the last couple of years, winning the only meeting of the season 5-0 and going 3-2-1 in the last six matchups overall.

The Arizona Coyotes are struggling to say the least. The team has gone 1-5-1 in their last seven games overall and has scored just 12 goals over that span.

The defense and goaltending hasn’t been much better – Devan Dubnyk is 1-3-1 with a 3.12 goals-against average in his last six appearances while Mike Smith is just 1-8-2 with a 3.27 GAA in his last 12 games – ugly!

The only good news is that Smith is 6-1-2 with a 1.92 GAA in his last 10 against the Canucks and Dubnyk is 4-2-1 with a 2.38 GAA against Vancouver.

Martin Hanzal scored Saturday in a 4-2 loss in Los Angeles – his first goal in 11 games! Shane Doan has just two points in his last nine games and the team is averaging just 2.25 goals per game this year.

Absolutely nothing is going right for Arizona – nothing!

The Vancouver Canucks haven’t been great either! Their offense hasn’t been great but they ARE coming off a three goal, overtime win against Calgary.

Prior to the three goal “explosion” Vancouver scored just seven times during a 0-4-1 stretch. Radim Vrbata has one pooint in four games, Alex Edler has no points in seven games and Chris Higgins and Luca Sbisa are pointless in nine games – not good.

It is unclear who will start between the pipes for Vancouver Monday – Ryan Miller who got the win Saturday is 1-3-0 with a 3.80 GAA and .854 save percentage in his last four games while Eddie Lack is 1-1-1 with a 1.40 GAA and .954 save percentage in his last three games.

NHL Gambling Trends

• ARI are 3-10 in their last 13 Mon. games.
• ARI are 6-13 in their last 19 road games.
• VAN are 9-3 in their last 12 vs. Pacific.
• Under is 14-5-3 in VAN last 22 Mon. games.
• Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings.
• Under is 11-3 in the last 14 meetings in Vancouver.

Monday’s match likely won’t set any goal scoring records. In fact, both struggling offenses could lull us to sleep. With that in mind, the play here is the Under – 5 1/2 goals.

Arizona has scored 12 goals in seven games while Vancouver has 10 goals in six games.

The Under – 5 1/2 goals

If we do the math there is only one logical conclusion.
