NHL Free Pick: Boston Bruins vs. Buffalo Sabres

The HSBC Arena is no easy place to play, as the Sabres are 17-5-5 there this season. The speedy, defensively sound Buffalo hasn’t lost at home in regulation since December 26.
While they’re formidable at home, they’re not playing their best hockey of late, however. Before returning home to beat New Jersey on Wednesday, the Sabres finished a seven-game road trip with four consecutive losses. The weird trend: Ryan Miller actually looked mortal over that span, allowing three or more goals in three straight games from January 21 to 25. He’s 14-5=5 against the Bruins for his career but his 2.65 goals against average and .908 save percentage versus Boston are subpar by his standards. 
Then again, I’m not sure if the Bruins can threaten Miller much tonight. They’ve lost four straight and eight of nine; they’ve scored two or fewer goals in four straight games. They can only hope Marc Savard’s potential return tonight can jumpstart their offense. After filling the net in 2008-09, Boston simply can’t buy a goal this year. Was Phil Kessel really that crucial to the Bruins’ success?
Boston is just too broken to handle a powerhouse like Buffalo on the road tonight.
