Cleveland beat Cincinnati four weeks ago and then followed that with an outstanding offensive effort against the Giants, rolling up 454 yards against the undefeated Super Bowl champs in a three-touchdown victory. But those who thought this might have been the start of something really good were disappointed, as the Brownies were stymied for the most part against Washington, outgained 351-236 by the Redskins, though the score in this defeat was rather respectable (14-11).

Back in the year 2000, Jacksonville dealt out one of the most severely one-sided beatings in the history of the NFL, winning 48-0 and outgaining the Browns by a 449-53 margin (and that is no typo). We wouldn’t dream of that happening again, but we see the Jaguars, after a lot of early offensive line problems, starting to get things going again on the ground. Against Indianapolis they rolled up 236 yards, followed by 139 against Houston, and two weeks ago they had 155 against Denver. Only Pittsburgh shut them down during this period (just 38 yards).

Take note of Derek Anderson’s inability to really get any consistent performances going (less than 50%, with a 6-6 ratio). David Garrard may not be super-productive (4 TD’s), but he hasn’t thrown an interception in his last three starts. Cleveland is giving up 4.8 yards a carry, which isn’t good news. Let’s go with Jacksonville, the seven-point favorite in the BetUS NFL football betting odds.
