The Baltimore defense isn’t giving much ground, as the Ravens have surrendered 237 yards or less in each of their first three games. And the Ravens have been double-tough against opposing running attacks (3.1 ypc), although admittedly these were three struggling offenses. Tennessee offers perhaps a bigger challenge than Baltimore has encountered this season, with swift rookie Chris Johnson (337 yards) and LenDale White (161 yards, 5 TD’s) making for a pretty strong 1-2 punch.

But the Ravens have a formidable tandem of their own, as Le’Ron McClain (4.1 ypc) has been moving his 260-pound body around just fine when Willis McGahee’s been hobbled. And Joe Flacco, while not spectacular thus far (56%, 1 TD), has not had the big blow-up in a game. Flacco’s been finding the range a little more, giving indications that even after Troy Smith bounces back from tonsillitis, the rookie will retain the starting job.

Meanwhile, it’s the veteran on the other side, as Kerry Collins continues to turn in serviceable performances and give Tennessee a level of confidence in the passing game that perhaps it did not have behind Vince Young. Coach Jeff Fisher has made it clear that Collins would not be unseated as long as this team kept winning, and the 4-0 start is the first in the team’s history.

I think the differences here are that Flacco is going to have a “rookie” game sooner or later, and that could well come against the likes of VanDen Bosch, Haynesworth and a secondary with eight interceptions, and Collins is enough of a calm veteran now to handle Baltimore pressure. Tennessee isn’t bad traveling, are they (12-5 ATS last 17)? We’ll lay the three points with the Titans, the favorite in the BetUS NFL football betting odds.
