NFL Week 11: Jets vs Patriots Predictions

Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Sunday when the New York Jets and the New England Patriots meet at Gillette Stadium. Oddsmakers currently have the Patriots listed as 11-point favorites versus the Jets, while the game’s total is sitting at 45…

Redemption For Belichick: Pats host the Jets

The New England Patriots will look for redemption as they host the 10 point underdog New York Jets at 4:15 PM ET at Gillette Stadium in an AFC East showdown.

NFL Betting Odds:

New York Jets +10
New England Patriots -10
O/U 45

The Patriots have heard more about the controversial 4th and 2 call by Bill Belichick from last week’s loss 35-34 against the Colts than from about any of their Superbowl wins.

“I thought it was our best chance to win,” Belichick said. “I thought we needed to make that one play and then we could basically run out the clock. We weren’t able to make it.”

New England’s defense will be playing with extra incentive this week after Belichick snubbed them on the 4th and 2 call last week. Jared Meyo and co have to prove that they are a lock down defense before the playoffs start otherwise Belichick will keep the ball in Brady’s hands rather than put it on future 4th and shorts.

“We’re going to see how well we prepare and how much better we understand what they’re doing,” Brady said. “It’s a good scheme, and it’s been proven for a lot of years that it’s a good scheme, and the players of the Jets have really seemed to adapt to it.”

For the New York Jets the key to the game will be clock control by running Thomas Jones. He is coming off a 77 yards with 1 TD against the Jaguars last week however he was completely shutdown by the Pats in week two.

If you want to beat this New England team a running game will not be enough, Mark Sanchez will need more to take care of the ball. Sanchez had not reacted well to defensive pressure lately; he has thrown 10 INT in the last 6 games.

“At the end of the day, I always say somebody is going to have egg on their face,” coach Rex Ryan said. “So far, it looks like me. But, I’m betting on me. I’m betting on our football team.

“Trust me, I’m going to work to the best of my ability to find answers. Whatever it is, I believe we’ll find them. I know our task is hard, but it’s not impossible.”

The Jets will try to win three straight overall against the Patriots for the first time since a four-game run from 1999-2001.

Consider these NFL betting trends: New England is 5-1 ATS in its last 7 games and the NY Jets are 1-5 SU in their last 6 games. Also if you´re betting on the game total keep in mind it has gone OVER in 4 of the NY Jets last 5 games.
