Let it be known that Pierre Thomas is now to be referred to as the “PT Cruiser”. When a traffic jam forced me to miss the opening few rounds of a fantasy draft, and I got screwed with Pierre Thomas, it was an awful feeling. It’s the same feeling that the rental car that I got as a loaner after a car accident last year was a PT Cruiser. I wasn’t exited about at all, even though it was a fine car that got me where I wanted to go. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

So as I languish over the PT Cruiser being in the shop, it doesn’t even remotely make me uneasy about siding with the Saints this weekend. Reggie Bush is also nursing a sore knee, which makes Mike Bell the improbable starter for one of the NFC’s most loaded offenses. The Saints are going to be one of the most potent offenses, especially with a soft schedule and Drew Brees hurling rockets all over the field with Marques Colston back at full health.
Detroit is not going to be winless in 2009, but they aren’t going to be very good either. Their offensive line is still terrifyingly bad and even if Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson become the next great duo, the Lions’ defense remains a work in progress. They can’t pressure the quarterback, or create turnovers. They ended 2008 by beating the spread in their five final road games, but this is a matchup nightmare for them.
Don’t bet against New Orleans, even if the double digits scare you. This is going to be a scoreboard burner, and the Saints have a 4-1 ATS record at home to protect. With an improved front line on defense, the Saints are going to man handle the Lions, making Detroit relive all the horrifying memories of last year.
