When Denver visits the god awful city of Cincinnati, it’s going to reveal a lot about which of these two is ready to take a step in the right direction.

The Bengals will be cursed by “Hard Knocks”, the HBO special that jinxed the Chiefs and the Cowboys. Almost everything you read about the Bengals is optimistic. Carson Palmer is back. Chad is trying to piss off the NFL with his Twitter account. Apparently, Cedric Benson is the funniest man in the NFL. The defense has taken all the right steps, including adding Darren Sharper. 
Yet it’s the offensive line that has me worried. It has two players at guard who are entering their second year, after riding the bench most of the time. Andrew Whitworth is not the greatest left tackle ever, and keeping Carson Palmer on his feet is a huge responsibility for such an untested offensive line. Listen, I don’t blame you for being optimistic about the Bengals, but be serious for a second. What do you truly know about this team?
It’s a god send they get the Broncos in Week 1.
The Bengals get to protect their 4-1 ATS home record from last season by hosting a Broncos team that is in more turmoil than they’d like to admit. Josh McDaniels is the youngest head coach in the league, and he’s showing his immaturity and lack of experience by choosing Kyle Orton over Jay Cutler. Orton quickly reminded everyone that they only cool thing about him is his beard.
With Knowshon Moreno on the mend after a sprained knee injury sidelined him all season, career backup Correll Buckhalter gets the starting nod. Buckhalter showed glimpses of talent in Philly, but that was with the Eagles’ front line. Not Denver’s. Even with the cancerous Brandon Marshall, the Broncos don’t stand a fighting chance.
The point spread is low in this match because nobody knows what to expect from McDaniels first game as a head coach. Well I do. Despite Chad’s inevitable distractions (seriously, when is this idiot going to grow up), I’d rather bank on a team stacked with veterans than a team stacked with failures.
