Free Week 3 NFL Totals Predictions

Its week THREE of the 2009 NFL season and we pick and preview all of the weekly matchups from an OVER/Under NFL betting perspective this season…

NFL Week 3 Betting Preview – Sunday September 27th

So far it has been good to be on the road this season as the visiting team is 20-12 ATS going 10-6 in each of the first two weeks. The points were flying around last week as well as nine games went over. New Orleans, with arguably the hottest offense in the NFL went over by themselves, putting up 48 points against Philadelphia.

Here is a rundown of all this week’s games and the current lines as supplied by beted.com.

Sunday, Sept. 27th

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens (-13)
Over/Under 38.5

The Ravens are just too much for the Browns to handle as they are my top team in the AFC. Take Baltimore and the over as they are likely to score 38 on their own.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-4) at Cincinnati Bengals
Over/Under 37

The Steelers will look to rebound from last week’s loss in Chicago, but I think Cincinnati keeps this one close. Take the Bengals to cover and score enough to push this one over.

Washington Redskins (-6) at Detroit Lions
Over/Under 38.5

Neither team has shown any consistency on offense and Washington has been terrible in the red zone. Take the Lions to cover, possibly even win and bet the farm on the under.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-4)
Over/Under 46

This game depends on which Texan offense shows up. I’ll go with Matt Schaub to stay hot and hand the Jags their third straight loss. This one barely stays under.

San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings (-6.5)
Over/Under 40

In a battle of 2-0 teams we will find out if the 49ers are for real. I do not think they will win, but I like San Francisco to cover. Defense will be the name of the game keeping this one under.

Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots (-4)
Over/Under 44

This is a big game for New England even though it is only week three. Atlanta is good, but the Patriots are better. Take New England and the over.

Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles
Over/Under

With McNabb still a game time decision there is no line as of now. Take Philly to cover no matter what the spread is as they will be looking to make up for last week’s disaster.

Green Bay Packers (-6.5) at St. Louis Rams
Over/Under 41

The Rams have scored 7 points in their first two games. For that reason alone I’m going with the Packers to cover and the under.

New York Giants (-7) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Over/Under 44

The Bucs defense has given up over 30 points in their first two games and their offense has scored over 20. The Giants should be able to cover, but this is definitely going over.

New Orleans Saints (-5.5) at Buffalo Bills
Over/Under 53

The Bills are better than expected, but they will not be able to stop New Orleans’ offense. Take the Saints to cover and despite the high number I’m still taking the over.

Chicago Bears (-2) at Seattle Seahawks
Over/Under 37

The big question here is Hasselbeck’s health as he may be a game time decision. If he is ready to go, take Seattle and the over.

Tennessee Titans at New York Jets (-2.5)
Over/Under 37

This game will be all about defense. I see the Jets having a letdown after last week’s big win so take the Titans and the under.

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders (-1)
Over/Under 35.5

The Raiders won last week with no offense, so even a little production from JaMarcus Russell should be enough to get past the Broncos. Stick with the under in this one.

Miami Dolphins at San Diego Chargers (-6)
Over/Under 43

Miami has played well and is still in danger of going 0-3. San Diego should be able to win, but I still see a 3 point game either way so take the Fins. This one barely goes over on a last minute score.

Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals (-1.5)
Over/Under 48

Manning and Warner should be able to light up the scoreboard with one big play after another. Take the Colts to win as well as the over.

Monday, Sept. 28th

Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys (-9)
Over/Under 46

I cannot see the Cowboys dropping two in a row at home, but I think Carolina will still cover. The Dallas defense should dictate the pace and keep this one under.

The odds makers are taking this away team winning trend seriously as there are 7 home teams getting points this week. The Packers, Giants, and Saints would be my strongest plays for road favorites and the Seahawks and Bengals would be my big picks for home dogs.
