The last game of Wild Card weekend will probably be the most compelling.  A couple of athletic rookie QBs looking to lead their teams to a championship.  I like it.

Seattle

The Seahawks are a great story that has been overshadowed this season.  They were perfect at home including that famous game against Green Bay that ended the referees lockout.

Still I think some overlook this team assuming that it is not ready to make the leap.

Clearly Vegas thinks otherwise, installing them as a favourite on the road with a rookie QB…

Part of that is because that QB has been unflappable and unstoppable down the stretch.  Russell Wilson has thrown just two interceptions in the second half of the season and since he was playing nearly mistake free football the Seahawks could rely upon a fantastic running game and an even better defense that was tops in the league in points against – 15.8ppg…

The Seahawks ATS record mirrored their SU record at 11-5.

They were a much better play at home than on the road but still managed a 4-4 ATS record away from Qwest Field.

If they can win this opener and get some momentum they have the right makeup for a deep playoff run.

Washington

One of the reasons the Seahawks were overshadowed is because of these Redskins.

Led by an impressive rookie duo they won their last 7 games to claim the NFC East for the first time in a while.  It seems like nothing can stop these Redskins but you can bet Pete Carroll and the Seahawks are going to try… [soliloquy id=”82219″]

QB Robert Griffin announced himself this season with an impressive win against New Orleans in their opener and never looked back.  He has had some superb performances throughout the season and used his athleticism to also be the second leading rusher on the team with more than 800 yards.

On some teams that might have put him close to the leader but not Washington where surprising rookie Alfred Morris has only gotten better it seems as the season went on.  He saved the best for last with 200 yards against Dallas in the division clincher…

Washington covered in every one of their 7 victories to close the season – three times as underdogs which they might find an insult in this one.

If they stay focused they can win but that Seattle defense I think will be too much to overcome.

Spread Pick:  Seattle -3
