Updated Seahawks Super Bowl XLIX Lines & 5 Reasons Why They Can Win

Super Bowl XLIX Betting Odds

With Pete Carroll and his trickery, the opposition never knows what to expect from one play to another.

Reason 1: Pete Carroll

Take the NFC Championship game for example. Down 16-0 late into the 3rd quarter and absolutely nothing going right for them, Carroll called on his field goal unit to go out and try to get the Seahawks on the board. Holder Jon Ryan took the snap, stood up, and found Garry Gilliam for a 19 yard touchdown pass that essentially changed the whole complexion of the game.

Pete Carroll has made a name for himself in the National Football League and has proven it is near impossible to out coach him, especially in late game situations. If the Seahawks need a play to get themselves going on Superbowl Sunday, Pete Carroll will have it ready and drawn up.

Reason 2: No Distractions

Richard Sherman put it best during his press conference when he said “it’s not like the Seahawks cared either way” when asked about the deflategate. The Patriots have spent all week being investigated and answering questions from the media about the popular on going topic.

Not only will the football’s the Patriots are using in the Superbowl be looked at throughout the entire game, they also have to deal with the fan reaction to the incident. People have continuously called the Patriots cheaters and feel that they don’t deserve to be playing on Sunday.

With the Patriots having to deal with the media, the Seahawks have simply minded their own business and continue to prep for the big game.

Reason 3: Defense Wins Championships

It’s no secret how many weapons the Seahawks’ defense is one of the, if not the best in the league.

They can dial up blitzes to confuse the offense and get to the quarterback with ease, or they will drop back in coverage and force the opposition into some tight windows.

Led by Richard Sherman, the Seattle defense will cause Tom Brady fits on Sunday. Expect Brady to be pressured all night and forced into throwing some interceptions.

Reason 4: Wilson & Lynch

Both have the ability to break off big runs. The duo have also developed a deadly read option that confuses defenses on a regular basis.

Lynch rumbled for 157 yards against the Packers on Sunday and basically took the game over in the 4th quarter. While the Patriots defense will have their eyes on him all game, they must also have a spy on Wilson.

Russell Wilson has shown the ability to have breakaway speed. Combine that with a play fake to Lynch and the defense will have trouble figuring out who has the ball.

Reason 5: Back-to-Back

The Seahawks are looking to solidify their spot in NFL history. With the chance of winning back-to-back titles, Seattle knows this is their time.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

No team has figured out how to beat Seattle in the playoffs the last two seasons. Heading into last season’s Superbowl, all the Seahawks players heard leading up to the game was just how good Peyton Manning was. When kickoff came, the Seahawks not only made Peyton Manning look foolish, but their offense led by Wilson marched up and down the field.

With the focus all on New England, Tom Brady, and the Deflategate, nobody is really mentioning the opportunity of a repeated Superbowl Champion. Expect the Seahawks to come out fired up and play with another chip on their shoulder.
