Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Tennessee Titans Preview

The Titans are coming off a loss, but they are still in the AFC South race and while they trail the Texans by 2 games in the division Houston lost starting QB Matt Schaub for the season and they still face the Texans in the season finale. NFL lines have the Titans as 3.5-point home favorites with a total of 43.

In their last games the Titans lost to the Atlanta Falcons 23-17 and the Bucs lost to the Green Bay Packers 35-26.

Titans’ QB Matt Hasselbeck was injured in the loss to the Falcons, but will get the start under center. His WR corps is decent at best, but may look good in this game facing a Bucs’ pass defense that only ranks 29th in the league.

After coming off a solid performance Titans’ RB Chris Johnson had a terrible week in the loss to the Falcons only gaining a grand total of 13 yards on 12 carries against Atlanta. He is only averaging 3.2 yards per carry on the season, but may get back on track since the Bucs only rank 27th in the league defending the run. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Bucs’ QB Josh Freeman has 15 INT on the season, but in the loss to Green Bay he passed for a career high 342 yards. He has to avoid the turnover in this game, but the Titans only have 9 INT on the season. The Titans’ pass defense is decent ranking 16th in the league.

Bucs’ RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for 107 yards in the loss to Packers and he must help Freeman out on offense. The Titans’ run defense ranks 22nd in the league. It is pretty basic for the Titans, as they have to play better defense than they did last week when they allowed the Falcons to gain 316 yards through the air and 116 yards on the ground.

The Bucs have lost their only 2 games they have faced the Titans in Tennessee.

Betting Trends

The Bucs are 4-6 ATS and have an O/U record of 6-4 and the Titans are at 5-5 ATS and have an O/U record of 4-6.

The Bucs are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall, 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games, and have an Over record of s 5-2 in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss.

The Titans are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win, and have an Under record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.

Jason’s Pick: I think the Bucs are a better team and while they have their issues on D they will play well in this game and score a minor upset with a win. Take the Under as well with not many points being scored in this game.
