Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders Preview

The Raiders (3-4) scored a franchise high 59 points in last week’s win, seriously 59 points from the Raiders, and they hope to carry the momentum they got from that game hosting the Seahawks (4-2) this Sunday. NFL lines have the Raiders as 2.5-point favorites in this game with a total of 42.

Seattle is one win away from last season’s total, but they have not played well on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, as they have not won in Oakland in 13 years (0-5).

Seattle is all alone in first place in the weak NFC West and they have won 2 in a row. The Seahawks look much better than the last few years, but their offense is not a high scoring one and they only had 1 TD and 5 field goals in their last win.

The Raiders are coming off an offensive performance in their last game where they scored 59 points, racked up 508 total yards, and 328 rushing yards. The rushing yards is the big concern for the Seahawks, as even though they have one of the best run defenses in the league only allowing an average of 77.5 rushing yards per game they gave up a season high 113 yards on the ground in their last game.

One of the main reasons they had troubles stopping the run is that DT Brandon Mebane did not play and he is questionable for this game. (Thursday Practice note: Now Probable)

Jason Campbell is slated to start at QB against since Bruce Gradkowski is still out with a shoulder injury.

This season the Raiders are 2-1 at home and the Seahawks are 1-2 on the road.

Both teams have been pretty solid betting ones so far this season with the Raiders at 4-3 ATS and the Seahawks at 4-2 ATS. While the Raiders have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games betting the house on them may not be the best idea since the Seahawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games when they are the underdog and in the Raiders last 11 games when they are the home favorites they have not covered the spread one time. Football betting

In their last games the Raiders beat the Denver Broncos 59-14 and the Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 22-10.

Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck has been decent this season and in the win over Arizona he was 20/38 for 192 yards with 1 TD and 0 INT. He only has 6 TD on the season and was sacked 5 times last week and may have trouble staying upright in this game since LT Russell Okung is listed as questionable with a high ankle sprain. Hasselbeck will be facing a solid Oakland secondary, but where the Raiders are weak on defense is against the run.

Oakland is giving up an average of 138.9 rushing yards per game and after not rushing for over 100 yards in their first 4 games Seattle has 255 yards in their last 2 games. RB’s Marshawn Lynch and Justin Forsett may have big games facing a weak Oakland run D and if that happens Seattle will be tough to beat.

The Raiders have the 3rd best rushing offense in the league led by RB Darren McFadden, who ran for 165 yards and 3 TD in the blowout win over Denver. He may have to have another good game since the Raiders do not feature a good passing offense and Campbell has been less than impressive this season. However, Campbell may get back on track against a Seattle pass defense that has given up an average of 261.3 passing yards per game.

The Raiders scored 59 points last week and while they will not score that many in this game they will beat a Seattle squad that only has one win this season over a team that currently has a winning record. McFadden will have another big day and the Raiders’ D will step up, as Oakland will win this game and cover the 2.5-point spread.

Betting Trends

Seattle is 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games, and has an Over record of 7-3 in their last 10 road games.
Oakland is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against teams with a winning record and has an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Pick: Raiders -2.5
