Both teams won their Week 1 games and both looked every bit the playoff teams that most expect this year. Seattle destroyed the 49ers at home last year 42-13 – you can bet that San Francisco will have revenge on their minds. But you can also bet that the 12th man in Seattle will certainly have their say.

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers for the third time in a year last week – no easy feat! Colin Kaepernick erased all notions that he is due for a sophomore slump when he passed for over 400 yards and proved dangerous on the ground once again. Anquan Boldin looked like a true difference maker for the 49ers and is someone else that Seattle will have to account for Sunday. Vernon Davis had a pair of touchdowns as well and looks far more effective than he did the last time these two teams played.

Defensively the 49ers looked just OK last week – Aaron Rodgers had his way with this team and exposed what had been a bit of a sore spot for San Fran heading into the season – the secondary. They did manage to stifle Green Bay’s running game – a positive sign when heading into a matchup against Marshawn Lynch and the Hawks.

Seattle went on the road and won a dreaded 10 AM ET game in Carolina last week – not a lot of people expected them to do so based on their weak road record. But Seattle got it done on defense and thanks to Russell Wilson who passed for over 300 yards in the win. Just like Kaepernick, Wilson squashed any notion of a sophomore slump in the win. San Francisco’s defense is a tier above Carolina’s but Wilson’s effort last week certainly bodes well for this week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Seattle has to hope to get a better effort from Marshawn Lynch after gaining just 43 yards on 17 carries last week. He is the center of the offense but Seattle has to feel good knowing that when Lynch struggles they still have a chance to win.

Seattle’s defense was also strong last week to absolutely nobody’s surprise. Cliff Avril, Brandon Browner and Chris Clemons could be back in the lineup this week to bolster one of the best units in the game. This defense limited the effectiveness of San Francisco’s offense last year but Colin Kaepernick, Anquan Boldin and Frank Gore look like much more refined unit on paper this year.

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:

• Over is 11-1 in SF last 12 games overall.
• Over is 7-3-2 in SF last 12 games in September.
• SF are 26-12-1 ATS in their last 39 games overall.
• SEA are 10-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• Under is 9-3 in SEA last 12 games in Week 2.
• SEA are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 vs. NFC.
• Home team is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.

The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against the ‘Niners at home, and overall they have covered in three straight games against the 49ers. I see the same happening this week. Colin Kaepernick is still a young an inexperienced QB – and CenturyLink Field is not exactly a QB friendly place. They 12th man will try to set a World Record in crowd noise this week at San Francisco’s expense. Seattle holds serve on home court this week thanks to their rabid crowd – they win by a touchdown.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks -3
